Fender price increases = Yucky

Hey guys, i'm stuck between buying ibanez prestige sr4005 or sr5005. Can anybody tell me what kind of difference does wenge top and the back body give, cause i couldnt find any other differences on ibanez web-page.

Gentlemen, I don't think you noticed the reason why this thread was revived. That poster would be better served by posting in a thread that's actually about the topic he's asking about, or starting a new thread altogether.

In my eyes, it's rather foolish to buy new, unless it's custom/boutique. You can get a lot more bass for less money. To me, that makes all the sense, gear-wise andfinancially.
But, to each their own. Besides, if no one bought new, I couldn't buy used. So, therefore I ain't bitchin' about it, for sure .

And your point is? Just because "times change" doesn't mean we should just ignore it?

We are still allowed to voice our opinions on the matter regardless of what times were like back then.

Inflation over time is understandable, but raising prices to this extent during an economic recession where people have less money to spend seems rather foolish for Fender, or any other big corporation who sells goods to the public to undertake.

You surely would agree, no?

Bumping a 4 year old thread about pricing in 2009 is bad enough, but when the OP revives the thread over something completely unrelated to the thread topic.... oy vey!!

Maybe. Depends on their cost of parts. One thing's for sure....doesn't seem to be affecting sales.

Guys, the price increase mentioned at the top was OVER FOUR YEARS AGO.

Ha, I’ve noticed that a lot here, but dang, it’s not like this was a long thread or something.

In any case, on-topic of the OP, I bought two Fenders just before that increase, a Jaguar HH guitar and a Mustang bass. I ended up selling the bass a couple years later and getting all my money back, and the Jag I could easily sell for what I paid, so I kinda made out on that.

Biggest example of price increase I've seen here (Montreal, Canada) is w/the Mustang bass.

It's gone from $579 (october) to 669 (January) to $969. This is the actual price at Archambault (local retailer.)

I love my Mustang (bought used a few years ago) but $1K? Absurd.

The US list was $999. I don't know how much they are now, but they're a Japanese made guitar and I never thought of the msrp being too outrageous.
