As title says. Has anyone owned or tried those 2 pup's and gotten an idea on what the difference pros & cons are regarding the overwound PV63 opposed to the more vintage normal would PV 60.

Fender PV63 pup’s vs the new PV60?

I have tried the Origional 60's P, Custom Shop 62, and Vintage 63.
For me they were in this order:
63
CS62
original 60's
Had the CS62 for quite a while and liked it much more than the 60's P
It is a clear and articulate tone decent lows and smooth clear highs
I ended up with the Pv63 for little better low end.

Thanks. What was it about the PV60s that you found insufficient compared to the other two.
I really liked the PV63 in an Am orig 60's P I had, but the neck was too chunky for me although I like the vintage P necks generally.
So now ordered a Am vintage II because it may suit my neck preferences better but maybe I'll have to change the pickup then, if it's too weak and lacks that nice bass/lowmid that the PV63 has.

If you do wind up swapping out the pickup on your new AVII 60 I would be interested in buying from you.
Aren't PV60s only now coming out? They were only available on the Vintage II Precision basses.
From what I'm seeing on the Fender dealer site, they'll be available for purchase in the early November this year. So technically, nobody bought those, except with the Vintage II P bass.

There's somehing sad about buying a 1960 and putting 63 pickup in it. It's fine though, but why not just eq to taste?
My preference is having a passive bass with a flat sound out of the bass as good as possible. And if there's a P pickup that I can get to make my otherwise good instrument sound better I'm willing to do that considering what an easy and small cost modification that is on a P bass. Eq is the icing on the cake on my opinion but I would rather have a bass where I didn't need to start off by adjusting frequencies.
To me it what seems much more sad is having a bass that's great physically in my hands and acoustically but that I would have to start off tweaking an eq to get in the right zone.
Having said that now that I got the AVii the original pickup in it (PV60) seems great so no need to swap it.
Yes, about that last part, how are you finding the pickup in comparison to the other ones you've tried?
It seems very well balanced and output is good, very responsive to dynamics. Also there's quite a bit of variety (more than normal on a P) in using the tone control. That's probably more because of the capacitor but maybe to some extent due to the voicing of the pickup.
Good low end, warm and sweet sounding total where some more overwound pup's like the PW63 has an emphasis on lower part of the mid frequencies and a high output that automatically sacrifices some of that balanced sweetness. Having said that I really like the PW63 as well for it's big, baldy tone that gives good energy to the bass sound. The PW60 though is more reminiscent of the Aguilar P62 or my old original 1960 P's pickup. Compared to the DiMarzio P's it has more low end warmness and maybe less dirt to it.
Without saying too much at this early stage I think Fender nailed a very good, balanced compromise between hot and twangy and warm and sweet.
The new American Vintage II Precision is a great bass. I had an an American Vintage Reissue 62 Precision and an American Vintage 63 Precision, and I like this neck the best. One big difference is its pickup. The 60 has raised pole pieces. It sounds really good with LaBella flats. I do find that my fingers hit the pole pieces when I play atop the pickup. I do have the action set pretty low, but it's got me thinking of putting another pickup in.
I hate staggered and raised pole pieces, I always hit those with my fingers and it's just uncomfortable and a pointless design. That's a big no no for me. I'm way too spoiled with my super smooth flush EMG GZR pups.
I don't find the pole pieces on my AVII 60P to be sharp in any way although a bit raised compared to on some other pup's. Don't disturb my playing at all.
Good point. The pole pieces are beveled and not sharp at all. I notice them, but others might not.
