Fender Rascal Bass

I wonder if the OP was asking about the Fender Rascal or the Squier Rascal. Two very different animals. Looks like many of the folks commenting are assuming it's the Squier.
Yeah, I think there's a clarification buried up-thread but there's a big difference between the two. 4 string, offset a la Bass VI and 30" scale but just the pickups alone are significantly different. The thread title is Fender Rascal but the thread content is mostly (Fender) Squier Paranormal Rascal HH. (Disclaimer: I own the Squier strung with Labella flats and quite like it, neck dive and all)

I have to wonder too. He did say "Any idea a fair price for a used one?" which seems to suggest he's asking about the Fender since the Squier is relatively new, but maybe he'll relpy soon.
Other than that, isn't the Squier similar to the Fender size wise, regardless of it being a short-scale bass?
Maybe a more appropriate bass would be a typical short-scale instead of an atypical one, which would make my G&L Fallout suggestion moot.
So a Squier or Fender Mustang might be the way to go, as others have mentioned.

I’m going to hop on the wagon and say just get a 34” scale P bass with high tension flats, should be an easy transition, that’s what Jamerson did. Going to a short scale from DB will feel pretty odd and cheaper short scales are kind of notorious for have odd harmonics and lack luster E string notes.
If you are trying to stay on the cheap these seam to be a favored Squier series.

Just want to put this out there.
If footprint/real estate is of the most importance for your electric bass needs, this is AFAIK Fender/Squiers smallest currently on the market bass guitar.
Squier Mini P Bass.

Not me in vid.
I had one. Decent make. Sounded pretty good with LaBella Deep Talking Strings. $200 new. 28.5 scale.
Gave it to a local church because I found the scale to be too small for my hands.
