Fender Revamp?

I've noticed lately that MF & a couple of the other on-line dealers have a very limited selection of Fender American Instruments. Shoreline Gold & Black for the American Jazz Bass, for the PBass there is this disclaimer "* Quantity is limited to stock-on-hand." Same disclaimer for the American Strat & Tele.
I realize NAMM is coming up, are dealers just not re-ordering in anticipation of new models, or is Fender not making this series anymore?

Noticing few if any american made Fender guitars on the wall at the 14th st GC in NYC, I asked my guy why: "there is something going one right now between Fender and GC' was the reply. Logically, that would also mean MF. I have also noticed little Fender stock at MF lately.

I don't know if your guy means that there is a dispute going on between GC and Fender, but if such a dispute were going on, you would think it would effect all Fender stock, not just the American line.

I think Rumblin' Man's link tells us whats happening, the American Standard line is getting revamped. The limited stock means they probably are just clearing way for the new American line in about 3 weeks. I am curious about the revisions to the line. A passive American P/J with a maple fretboard would be very high on my GAS list, especially if it came as a 5er.

It will be interesting to see what comes. Seems like this time every year the stock gets low to clear out old models, and then the main change is 3 new colors or something, but the web site implies something big. I do wonder about the scope of the changes though. The american series/standard moniker typically just applies to the basic strat/tele/j/p.

I don't think it will be any different this time. I'm just curious to see how these models will change. It doesn't seem like just colors this time. I know the S-1 switch was a pretty big addition to the line 3-4 years ago. I am thinking it will be something along those lines. Some new feature that will be applicable to all those models. Hopefully, they will have something more useful for a P-bass than the S-1 switch was.

I agree, how much can they really change on probably the most used and sold guitar/bass series in the world before it being the least sold in the world? :smug:

Anybody think there will be any other new models coming out from Fender apart from the standard series?
