There seems to be a consensus about the sunburst but initially, that's the one I picked,
because actual vintage worn basses that I liked from back in the day were 3TSB.
However, since this is a replica I like the Firemist as well, but not with tort.
I love tort but not on all colors, and this is one where it doesn't work for me.
Tort work on many colors, black works on fewer colors.
Black would be worse on Firemint.
I'm voting 3TSB as is, but FM with the PG that accents its color...057912

If buying in person, get the one that sounds best. Besides that, paint is wholly indifferent.

Shoemaniac has a good point: If you can try one, so much the better. I ordered mine sight unseen, but found that it plays quite nice and is very lightweight.
I like it so much I want another stack knob J bass (that Lakland 44-60 may fit the bill here).
I would change the guard on mine, but I can not think of another pickguard color that would go well with it.
If one wanted to indulge, I bet that green tort from Spitfire would hit the spot. If you were not trying to spend that kind of money, the pistachio nut crush guard may be a decent substitute.
If I had held out on purchasing a 3TSB roadworn Jazz Bass, I would’ve gone with the silver or Olympic white. Sunburst to me lately are starting to bore me these days. Time to put them in a closet for 30 days sight unseen and see if my dislike for them has changed
In situations like this, I just let my wife pick, as I really don’t care that much (see my sig.)
The silver and Oly are great. They're all great but I think the world has neared its quota of sunburst P basses. The ones we have are great. But do the right thing and help level it off.
To me, the only one that looks like true vintage is the sunburst.....others just look like fake relics.
A friend of mine had a shell pink ESP fiver, body, neck, and headstock. I would borrow it from time to time and for some odd reason, the ladies were always telling me how much they liked it. I had a natural ash bass at the time and it rarely got compliments from the ladies.
Coin flip between Firemist Silver and Olympic White for me. Can’t go wrong with any of them though!
