Fender Roadworn Questions/Discussion Thread

One of these years, I suppose I'll own a Jazz, and when I do, it will probably be a 'burst RW. If they made the same base with an un-trashed finish, I would like it even more, but since they don't, the relic thing just is what it is.

After living with the relic thing, I now don't mind it at all and kind of like how it looks. It feels very similar to a vintage bass, and that has a lot to do with whatever the do to relic it, and I'm talking about the neck here. The relicing in the body does not affect playability for me. I too wish they would make the same guitar in pristine condition, but I'm sure that would cut into their us line's sales, so I can see why they don't have them ;)

Well if you don't like the relic, just de-relic it.

Costs .99$ and 5 minutes.

John, could you share your process of de-relicing in more detail? Thanks

Your such fake poser. :D

Seriously man, all jokes aside that bass is incredible looking.

You fake bass player, poser. :D

Lol, but all jokes aside that is one incredibly sweet looking bass, very authentic looking.

I'm impressed with it. Your making me want one bad. I wanna be a poser too. :-)

Lol, my phone said the first one failed to post so I re-wrote it and as soon as I posted it the first one showed up.

its my understanding they are supposed to be set up with the 60's specs so i am guessing the spacing is 60's...i could be wrong. i dunno for sure.....

Your probably right, I could have sworn someone told me they were, so of I get one and deck it out with 60's stuff I don't be an EXTRA poser.

(noob question) Sorry, I can't tell from the pics, are these 60's or 70's spacing on the p'ups

Yup. It's 60's spacing. Strangely enough just like my 64 Jazz. :D
70's spacing put's the bridge pup closer to the bridge (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch... call it 3/8ths???). Neck pup is the same location for both. Easiest way to tell at a cursory glance is that the 70's bridge pup is nearly even with the tone knob.

And... I'm lovin my RW Jazz, too. I want the "P" too.

Thanks, and yeah someone was telling me about the spacing difference with the bridge pup and where it sits compared to the tone knob.
I just couldn't really tell from the pics, looking on my phone.

I'm gonna have to quit coming to this thread, this is making me loose sleep at night.
If I didn't have so much going on financially I'd have already tracked one down as soon as Nubs posted those pics.
