Thanks JacobT. Yeah I couldn't deal with sitting down in the car today or even being able to change out the new strings that came in the mail today. But once I am feeling better, I am going to go and take a look at it. Once I get the back fusion surgery and heal up, I should be able to move that amp around easily if I decide to go with it over the Markbass. I plan on getting a Chevy Silverado Texas a Edition with crew cab and a cap for the back of it. So getting it in to it should be easy at that weight. I could probably do it now once I pass this kidney stone and the nerves in my leg calm down again.
I had an incredibly strong back all my life and then some moron slammed in to my SUV while I was waiting at a set of lights on a highway service road. They were going 70-75mph and texting while driving, hit my right corner bumper which killed the airbag system, bounced me off of the left guard rail, hit me again, hooked in to the right front quarter panel and dragged me 20 yards. Wearing a seatbelt and the angle of the hit, broke my bottom right ribs next to my spine so they couldn't wrap them for fear of me puncturing my right lung so I had to sleep for 6 weeks on my left side with pillows, which was the side where my nerves were pinched and discs were herniated. It blew out all the fluid between my discs which will not go back in with traction therapy so I am bone on bone now and all my lower discs were blown out. So I had to get a discectomy surgery and have them all cut down to 30% but the doctor lied and only cut them down to 6% so my back pain never got better, got worse and now my back is more screwed up than after the accident. My only solution is to get rods put in my lower back to my hip now. Not too happy about it. On top of that, I have kidney stones now from all the years of having to be on meds for it.
I was just getting off all the meds before I had the kidney stone problem too. Which is a bummer. I bought that Quell unit and it actually works and takes away all the nerve pain. I have an amazing chiropractor who used to work for a famous sports team here before he opened his own business and he keeps me going. I had 5 discs and 4 ribs put back in yesterday and even with the next day soreness, I feel so much better today! But life could always be worse and the accident could have put me in a wheelchair, become a paraplegic or killed me if I was driving the Chevy Cruz we have at the time. It just stinks because I am living In a state that's awesome for hunting, fishing and I belong to an archery club right down the street from me and I can't do anything in the outdoors right now for almost 4 years without having to end up bed ridden for the next 2 days afterwards lol. I do a lot of fly fishing and Spey casting which requires a lot of standing up and body movement and not being able to do it is driving me bonkers lol.
But my new doctor who is doing the corrective surgery also had his back fused together and he is able to still ride his dirt bikes and lead a normal life. So I should be able to move an amp around no problem. It's not like the old days where amps were the size of a medium size bureau and you had to wear a back brace and find a friend to help you lmao. Man did I hate it when when we had to move my buddies bass amp around back when we were too young to drive. He lived at the top of a very steep long hill and we had to tie ropes from it to us so it didn't get away and kill someone. But it was a lot better than having to be the one that had to carry the head lmao. We couldn't even find a job in the area so we could buy gear and he could get a smaller amp lol. Rough days and living in Arlington Heights gave your legs a workout from all the hills where we lived lol.
The a Markbass amp I am looking to get is only 300w and cost $300 more dollars than the 500w Rumble. Plus I would have to spend another $500.00 for the matching Markbass mini cabinet speaker to throw under it to get it to 500w at 4 ohm. Even the Markbass used amp in excellent condition costs $625.00 - $650.00 . So price wise and amp output the Rumble 500w is a better deal. The one thing that I like about the Markbass is the VLE (vintage loudspeaker emulator) and the VPF (variable pre-shape filter) options on the built in Little Mark II head. That and the sound that I get out of my set up is great. But I am going to keep an open mind and check out the 500 Rumble because it got all excellent reviews. I have had a bunch of Fender guitar amp in the past and they were all excellent amps. I read that the old Fender bass amps were not so good but now stepped up their game and they are now top of the line for bass amps.
I also read that Ampeg isn't as good as it used to be after they went over to China. Personally I don't know how true that is or have any experience with them to base an opinion of them on, but I have read it online and people have told me that the sound is not what it used to be. Markbass is also made in Indonesia now and their stuff still gets good reviews. So who knows lol. What's good for some might not be good for others for the sound they want. I am hoping to get out and try the Rumble 500w hopefully this weekend. Well I am going to have to stop writing this mini novel now lol. Thanks again and have a great night?
