@Linnin My quotes aren't working right now. But--your description of the sound is dead on to what I am hearing. I bought the bass used and the store didn't know what strings were on it.

Punchy, bark, no twangy highs. No sound when I slide except for the note I plucked. I just need to lower the action from the bridge slightly. Had to learn fretless real fast to play on my gigs this weekend so I spent zero time on working the action. Maybe tonight.

I wish to point out that one of the bands that felt I sounded heavier is a post hardcore band....the VMJ sounded heavier than the Bongo?????? Cray.

btw: my wife had a front row seat and never noticed the new bass. lolololololololololololololololol

Yes---color coded ends at the bridge as well like on a regular guitar.

Hard to tell from pic. Color coded ends and blue silks; they're probably Chromes.

They're tiny but they have volume to spare. No other support and I couldn't use half of the power. The BassLite driver upgrade made a serious difference on the R100 and 40.

What is that? 2 x 100s stacked on top of each other? The 100 has no external speaker output iirc.

But you can daisy chain them from the FX send to the FX input of the other.
In fact you can daisy chain a whole bunch of them

No, you just have them rebuilt. It's called reconing. New cone; surround, spider, and dust cap = good as new.

What's pricing like on a recone in the US nowadays? Over here, if you can find someone to do it, it costs more than new drivers. In fact, it usually costs more than new drivers even if you DIY.

Just picked up a 500c from a fellow TB'er. In the past I've used full stack rigs and more recently have used a Super Redhead and the Fender TV12. The 500c is better in every way than either of the other combos and can easily replace a much bigger old-school rig -- especially with an extension cab. Versus the Redhead and TV 12, the 500c is lighter, louder and sounds better! So far I really impressed.

I don't know. I've never blown a speaker and have never had one reconed. Eminence has a list of authorized recone service shops that will use genuine Eminence parts. It gets expensive when you need a new voice coil and that's what bass players generally burn out.
