I have the "Original '62" pickup in my Am. Special nitro P bass....great upper/mid bump that grinds for days, it really balances out well with the Rumble. Ive been tempted to try other pickups just to see what the hype is all about, but I don't really need to, these sound great.

I found the cure for my GAS:

jk----I have been gassing for a high end fretless until my cheapo fretless got knocked out of commission which forced me to play the Bongo in a pinch.

Yesterday--I spent 10 hours (no joke) practicing on the Bongo...at the end I said to myself..."why would I want another bass--this thing is bada$$ed?" I feel no desire or compulsion to buy another bass today. What a relief.

I don't drink....but, I may start.....

I took on a foster child...then my 65 year old brother got a serious head injury and I am taking guardianship of him as well--and his wife is moving in too.

This ends my plans to use my back building as a concert venue. I will have the one and only concert there this August 26. After that--I have to convert it into a home for my bro. Serious stuff--I am having to close out his law practice as we speak and do my job as well. He was a genius --but it is all gone. All from a bicycle accident.

Well, I just joined the Rumble club. Bought a 500 Combo. Love it! I like my tone from my Genz Benz Streamliner through a GB Uber 212 cab a little better, but not much. What I do like is the weight and portability of the Fender. 25lbs. means a lot nowadays. But even more important is that I can fit it in my trunk and I don't have to put it in my back seat. Now I'm trying to decide on the 115 extension cab or another 210. I like the matched set look, but I think the 115 will round out the sound. Probably overthinking it, as always.Decisions, decisions.

Sorry to hear about that... You really find out who loves you / true family and friends are when things get tough though...

We've had years of dealing with, in our home, various in laws with this, that or the other medical problem that ended up on their collective cans. So I feel your pain man. You are doing what a brother should. Hopefully you can get some help with his care, and not have the constant fights my wife and I are having with her siblings about my 85 y/o dementia patient FIL's care... I don't want to fuss other than to give you a heads up, keep your character about you, and take care of yourself first. We didn't at first and there are far too many days when my fuse is too short...

Hey--I appreciate the advice. I am venturing into the unknown and will take any advice given!

I just found out I have to cough up 6 grand to cover his secretaries and office expenses through the end of this month. Good thing I didn't buy another bass!

I am determined to get his office completely shut down by the 31st.

I admire you for stepping and taking care of your brother, you have a good heart no one else may appreciate it but I do. I went through the same thing with my mom. I was her sole caregiver for 4 years she was an invalent.

Instead of replacing the 15, just add a 12! Then you can lift, listen and compare them to each other. See for yourself if the approx. 25% weight difference is, or is not, offset by the approx. 50% speaker area difference. Remember, a 15 has about the same speaker area as two 10s.

With two 12s you have either 350 watts with one or 500 watts with two.

With one 12 and one 15 you'd have 3 configurations to choose from, instead of just 2;
- the 12 alone, lightest & smallest, at 350 watts;
- the 15 alone, slightly heavier, but much bigger speaker, at 350 watts;
- or the 12 & 15 together, 2 comparable weights, plus serious speaker area, at the full 500 watts!

Your choice, of course. But what a great problem to have, eh?
