I’ll be honest: I’ve been looking for a second amp to have some variety (and a backup) as my Rumble 500 v3 head is my only amp at the moment despite owning four cabs, which are an Orange OBC115, an Ampeg 8x10, and of course two Rumble v3 2x10 cabs.
That said, after almost a year of gigs with the head, I have a hard time finding any deficiencies with it, other than my master volume knob sometimes gives a little crackle when first turning it up, but doesn’t later in its rotation. I run an Aguilar TLC compressor and Tone Hammer DI into its front end and they blend wonderfully. I set the EQ flat on both the TH (with AGS on at 9 o clock for a hint of overdrive) and Rumble (with the input gain also at noon), only adjusting the Rumble’s bass knob to cater to the room.
I’m debating trying a Bassman 500 head as it’s the Rumble’s power section with the Super Bassman preamp, but I like being able to stuff everything except my cabinet in my SKB utility case for gigs so a Bassman would be an extra piece to carry separately.
Would it be ridiculous if I just bought a second Rumble 500 head?.... I could run both simultaneously into my two Rumble 2x10 cabs for a 700 watt stereo pair at 8 ohms each....

That is exactly what I did..... I bought a second Rumble 350 Head. Now I am searching for a second Rumble Cab (V2). I now use one Head with a Rumble 112 Cab in our Rehearsal Room, and one at Home, but i would be able (with a second Cab of Course) to use it as a Little 4Ohm Stack with one Head, or as two 8 Ohm Setups with 2 Heads and two Cabs (or in the best case with 4 Cabs as two 4Ohm Stacks of Course)
I brought one to Church and played it with an Ampeg SVT Pro 4.
Sounded good and tight.
Picture came out pretty bad though.
Hey all! Random question...my band is playing more bar gigs lately and i have the 500c and it is plenty loud as it is. i'm having serious GAS for an extension cab. I know I don't really need one because of our subs and such, but I love the look of a stack. Here's my question. Do I go with 115, 2x10, or 4x10? 2x10 will match the cab best, but I make my own custom grills, so I don't mind laying the 500c on its side. Just wanted to see what everyone else ran and how they liked the sound. Thanks!

^^^Good Answer^^^ Rumble 210 for the matching cabinet & drivers = the magic of the cabinet coupling effect. You won't get that with any other combination. That being said, the Rumble 115 cabinet is known to have it's own magic and is also a good match with the Rumble 500 combo.

Hey all!
I'm hesitating between the rumble 40 and rumble 100 for home use and light jamming. Is there a big difference in volume and tone due to the 12 inch speaker instead of a 10? I don't mind the extra 100$ between the two but I wouldn't want to to pay for a tiny difference between the two.
This will NOT be to play with a drum as I have a gig rig at my jam space for that.

I have been doing the guitar/bass thing for a while with two amps. I have given it a break and have been practicing jazz and funk chops on bass alone this past week. My Bongo on the 500C sounds so good to me. Adding a little more "goodness" is calling my name.
Yes, there is, and only your ears can tell your brain which is better for your situation. Some like the Rumble 40 better. Others choose the Rumble 100. Just A/B them at a local music store, and buy the one you like best.
Im in the exact same position. I have a 500 head/210 rig(vs. the combo), and although I really don't need it volume wise, I've been looking for an excuse to pick up a second 210. I'll probably wait to see if there are any Holiday sales and pick one up before the year's out.
I believe the 100 has another bell and whistle. Plus the 100 has a little more juice. 1 vote for 100
The 100 has an effects loops that the 40 lacks. It also has an Eminence woofer while the 40 is still using the V2's Fender Special Design driver, but it is a very good one.
100 watts is 150% more than 40 watts. That's more than just a little.
I have the 500c and 210 extension and yes, it's worth adding the 2nd cab whether you REALLY need it or not. Halloween gig this past Saturday night at a local pub we play semi regularly, had the gain at 11 o'clock and the master at only 9 o'clock, had to pretty much take it out of the mains because it was just filling the room too much, and this is a probably 125+ seat room. That's how much the extra cab adds to the presence of the rig, it just permeates the space so well. I really don't need it for SP alone but I love it for what it adds to my sound and presence. Plus the stack just looks better on stage.
Between the 40 and the 100 IMO go with the 100. In the other occasional 60's - 70's - 80's band I play in the BL provides a fully stocked practice space with a 100 for the bass amp. I could actually probably get by with it for most of the rooms I play anyway especially since I would be able to DI it to the board. Don't know if the 40 allows for that or not (never messed with one) but that alone would make the difference for me. Plus the flexibility of the effects loop.
