So, a 19-date European tour with my doom metal band done. My 500C + 210 cab was a major logistics improvement from hauling my former Orange 810 monster. Loading and unloading a complete backline at unholy hours almost every night for three weeks is something one might need to experience first hand when making touring gear decisions... This rig makes my part of the job a breeze.

The rig sounds very good, as expected. I run it with the EQ straight at noon, except for when a particular venue needs a bit of tweaking for optimal tone. I run a bunch of effects, so the clean tone is not much of a concern.
It it also plenty loud. Most of the venues had a PA, but a bunch of floor shows were just backline sound and this unit easily handles doom metal sound levels in most places. Yes, it's less loud than a mountain of Orange amps that many doom bands like to carry around, but for it's size it it is really impressive! Nowhere have I had problems, volume-wise.
In several venues I got compliments not only for the impressive volume and sound, but also that it looks very classy.
Couldn't be happier with an amp - this is the only one I use now, live or in the studio.

Hi Steadfast. I laid the Rumble115 Cabinet on its side and as you can see the amp on top is a closer match than if sat on top normally as in my other pics. I included a pic of the actual 115 Cab top which shows the indented magnet system that hold the feet of the Rumble Heads to prevent being knocked off the cab.

The only problem I can see is that the speaker would become 'confused' as to it's orientation in space and might not be able to couple with the unaligned second cab. This is known as 'disassociative coupling' and has resulted in record contracts being withheld.

Yes, by design an amp expects it's volume and all other pots to be located relative to the source of gravity. Turning it on it's side may invalidate the warranty.

I'd still prefer the amp controls at top. For someone with a bad back already, leaning over sideways to adjust controls if not really necessary wouldnt be comfortable. Its just my take on it visualising the amp on its side.

Turn your amp on the side, and the neutral position is either 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock, numbers would be useful. How about pluses and minuses. I have to read sideways. Will the music come out twisted, and should I print the lead sheets.in landscape mode. My head hurts, especially if it falls off the magnets.

Well thanks to people on here and the help of a guitar center employee, I traded my rumble 40 in for a 500 combo today. I’m beyond excited to get to try it out at practice.

I tried both the 200 and 500. But I had kind of already made up my mind based on watts, and even tho I was wanting to like the cheaper option and the 115, I went for more headroom and speakers.

I think this will do just fine for quite some time. And if I need more later, I’ll add a 210 cab underneath for a very nice, portable rig.

You can always turn the 500 down, sounds just as good and you have the headroom if you need it. Especially considering the price/sound equation. I think my 500 with the 2 210s has a very similar sound that my SVT had with the 2 Acoustic 215 cabs. I could never turn the SVT up past 6 without harming bystanders for the small venues we played so I rarely drove it to distortion. Granted it's solid state but the sound is solid period. If you can get the extra 210 to boost the output you will not regret it, unless your wife does. But I don't have that problem any more.

Is there any danger of the amp overheating if it's sideways? Aren't the vent slots in the top?
