Good. I would suggest working with the amp before you add a compressor.

Say hello to my now-modified Rumble 500 combo. "What?!" you say, "that can't be a 500 combo because it's wider than it is tall." But, to paraphrase Ender Wiggin, up is any way you want it to be.
In all seriousness, I made the decision to order a 210 ext cab but do NOT like the look of the two stacked vertically. I wanted to stack horizontally but I was feeling kind of OCD about the rubber feet and handle being on the sides, and the badge being sidewise. 15 minutes with a drill and screwdriver resulted in this. I'll do something similar to the 210 when it comes in. Will post pics of final product!

That would have been easier I guess. I thought the stack would look cooler with those mods, saves some footprint, and projects a bit higher.

I was just thinking about this last night! Excited to see it with the 210! Keep us posted. And what made you go for having controls on left vs right? Just curious.
Sure will! Left vs. right...puts the knobs I'd use most (clean channel EQ and master volume, and the power switch) on the top side so easier to reach. It also puts the input jack lower, so it uses a foot and a half less chord dropping to the floor.
I wonder if there's any chance of a cooling problem? I'm not sure exactly how the Rumble is physically configured, but normally an amp is designed to facilitate air flow past the power section components and cooling heat sink when the amp is in it's "normal" orientation.
It may not even be a consideration with the Rumble; just thought I'd ask the question and tuck away the information for possible use down the line.
I sure hope not. I read a bunch of threads here where people had done the same thing (stacked horizontally) and no one reported any problems. When my 210 ext comes in I'll crank it up so running close to 500w max and shake the house for awhile to see if I can detect any excessive heating.
I always run my Rumble 200c on its side (on top of a 115 cab), whether at home , band practice, or gigs. Have never had an issue.
Well this may be sacrilege in here... but I changed the grill cloth on my rumble. The stock one was a little too sparkly for me. I went to local hobby store and bought some fabric and changing it was fairly easy. Pulled staples on Velcro and stock grill. Stretched new fabric and restapled everything. I think it looks cool. A little vintage looking. Not sure if I’ll stick the logo back on or not.

Questions for Rumble owners.
I am considering the Rumble 500 combo for smaller gigs. How does it handle the B string? I have both a Roscoe and Lakland 55-94 with killer B strings and wonder if the amp's going to fart out.
The footswitch... What does it control? The overdrive?

Yes, the footswitch toggles the overdrive. The amp has a high-pass filter built in, so you shouldn't worry about overloading the amp with subsonic frequencies
However I don't own a five string to be absolutely sure about this.
Yep footswitch activates the OD on or off. I use a 5 string '91 Peavey Dynabass and an EBMM SR5 through my Fender Rumble 500 Combo..also through my Rumble 75 for that matter and never had an issue with either 5 string basses and the B string farting at all. I am a pick player too.
This is the Fender foot switch I bought for both my Rumble amps. It has a little square LED that shows operation of the OD when it's ON. It's classified as a Fender 1-Button Contemporary Footswitch: Channel Switching - Drive On/Off 1/4 inch Jack (Comes with a long cable with 1/4" Jack Plugs both ends). Hope that helps.

I recommend the deluxe Fender footswitch with the LED. That makes it easy to see if your OD is on/off.
