Not the right post to quote, but that rosewood neck in your profile pic that we were talking about the other day... I was looking on the Warmouth website last night and it didn't seem like they were letting me choose a finish option when selecting Indian Rosewood as the shaft wood... Was it like this for you too? If so, is yours on the guitar unfinished or did you finish it yourself? I was looking at J bass necks, not sure if that makes a difference...

Mixing drivers may indeed work well. ..may not.
Matching drivers will.
My Rumble 500C with its 210s seems to work well with the Bassman 115 neo cab. But I've not heard it with a matching 210...

ACK! Bad Bad! The ampeg pottyflex has a very poor record of reliability. Also it just doesn't have 500 watts by any stretch of the imagination.

I used to have the Ampeg 500. I agree that there is no way it is 500 watts. My Rumble 200 not only sounds lightyears better, it is also more powerful, even at 140 watts and one 15. Speaking from hands on experience here. The Ampeg also had one 15, so all things are sort of equal.

Rumble overlords,

I was thinking of running 115 and 1 2x10 with a 500 watt ampeg portaflex (for the compressor control). Of course, I was told that it's bad to mix cabs, but I see in this thread that is not so with Rumble cabs. I don't, however, know if this rule applies to another head type.

Not at all. There are several here doing that. If you are considering the portaflex for the compression, are you aware the Rumble has built in compression. @Linnin could give you more detailed info. It alslo may be in the Rumble

I think an external compressor (bass=>comp=>Rumble) serves a different purpose than the internal delta comp. I use a Diamond, its a very light compression and use it mainly for the tone magic the Diamonds are known for.

So--I found a local 500C for a great price. I know I can couple 2 500C's together via the effects loop from one to the input in the second. 700 watts and redundancy--win/win.

I run my pedal board through the effects loop and will lose that ability. Does this really matter?

Not that I experience but some guys have said they get better results running their modulation type pedals such as flangers, phasers, delays through the fx loop.

Haven't done it yet, because the second Cab has arrived today. I now use One Head with one Cab at Home and the other Head & Cab in our Rehearsal Room. Of Course I can run one Head with 2 cabs @ 4 Ohm wich delivers 350 watts, or yes...indeed I could use both Heads with one Cab together. In that Case I would have 2x 230W @ 8 Ohm. I guess to route your Signal on two Amps you can use every A/B/Y Splitter wich are available from Morley, Boss or whatever.
