Do you think there’s any hope for a small battery powered Rumble?
In term of RMS power, the Rumble 500 AMP delivers about 215W RMS into 8 ohms and 400W RMS into 4 ohms.

But all this talk of "350 clean continuous watts in 8 ohms" is nonsense. As a stand alone unit it's a 215W combo.

I wouldn't be too worried, doubling the power would not make a significant increase in volume to be honest. The Rumble 500 uses an amplifier module from icePower in Denmark, the 125ASX2 to be precise that's capable of delivering 550W into 4 ohms. Either the units used are 'specials' with reduced power or Fender have used jiggery pokery to limit the output. Either way it's likely for reliability, thermal and speaker damage reasons, which is a good thing.Ouch!

Hi there 'ubenator' . . According to Fenders spec the Rumble 200 does (RMS values) about 93W into 8 ohms and 160W into 4, they test at 100Hz and 1 kHz. So the 200 is somewhat poetic and more by model number than power output.Service manual guy, what is the "true" power of the 200?

Think of a speaker like an electric motor (which is actually what it is). When you load up a motor it uses more gas, it's resistance changes depending on the load. A speakers resistance varies depending on the note you play and the resistance the cone see's to the air, mechanical stiffness, cabinet size etc . . Yep, I concur. I am not an electrical engineer, KBD has a bit of experience here, obviously but again, the Rumble 500 sounds great and is loud enough. Sorry for the repetitiveness, I will sit back and watch the drama unfold.Not only am I wondering how the output Watts were measured, but now I'm wondering what the input signal was & what the level of that was.

Best thing to do is go to the Eminence website and take a look at bass speaker specs. You'll see the resistance (impedance) varies wildly up to maybe 100 ohms at resonance.Isn't the 4 & 8 Ohms determined at 1 kHz?
