Fender Rumble Club

Isn't the 4 & 8 Ohms determined at 1 kHz?
eminence states this, I have seen the determination made at 400 Hz for PA speakers, and I am citing a memory reference from 1954, by Norman Crowhurst. (Crowhurst did a lot of audio design, and his work is highly referenced in RDH 3&4. )
I prefer to use nominal resistance for speaker values, In power calculations, I also like to use Z (impedance), rather than R resistance. That way, when I screw up, the electrical engineers can nail my hide to the door.

.....
Impedance is similar to resistance but applies to alternating current and varies depending on frequency but I won't go on here :) ..
I would like to blame the electrical engineers for using the term ohms for both impedance and resistance, but, I think, we really need to blame the physicists, from the late 19th century, for the confusion. The math guys with their fancy formulas, just add confusion.
Boy, am I glad we haven't gotten to using pounds and ounces. that is another can of worms in a different room.
Maybe we can settle on ohms(z), when we take about speakers, and ohms(r), when we talk about resistors, nah, that would make it too easy.

Just joined the Rumble club myself. Bought all new everything after not having played for a few years.

Fender Rumble 500 head
- with one Fender Rumble 115 cabinet (1x15" @ 300 watts)
- with two Fender Rumble 115 cabinets (2x15" @ 500 watts)

Fender Rumble 200 combo
- solo (1x15" @ 140 watts)
- with one Fender Rumble 115 cabinet (2x15" @ 200 watts)

That is nearly what I was going to do before I fell too hard for Ampeg.

Instead I went and got a PF-800 with two PF115HE cabs, a SCR-DI, a BA108v2 for a very small combo and went Fender for the Rumble 40 combo because its so light and for my ears sounded the best of any 10” 40-75w combos available.

I have merely joined this club.

You sir, you looked at the menu and waved one hand to instruct the kitchen to prepare all of it for your feast.

As with anyone else who loves the Fender tone along with every other aspect from weight to reliability; so long as it you enjoy it then you’ve made great choices.

I had the 500 combo but returned it just because the Portaflex series did more for me and by no means will I say Ampeg is “better” just that it’s better for me in terms of what I was seeking.

I think you earned two numbers in the club with your one go.

I've never claimed to know everything, but I have a background in Electronics.
I did not use gOOgle at all!

but now I am, because I thought resonant frequency was where the circuit has the least impedance:

That does not look like the eminence drawing, where impedance versus frequency looks like a camel, i.e, tail, hump, and neck, and the top of the hump is where you find the resonance frequency. Back to the llamas.

Thanks!

And right on, regarding your choice of Ampeg. Classic rig. Workhorse. Always loved the sound.

For me, am very happy with the Fenders. Store had sale on everything Fender, so everything I bought was Fender (2 basses, combo amp, amp head, two cabinets).

Enjoy your Ampeg!

And yes I would love a Rumble club number, if possible.

You sound a lot like me but in reverse I really really wanted to like the Ampeg 210 combo but could not bring myself to deal with the additional weight and Ampeg tone just doesn't do it for me. Not saying that my Fender is better by any means it's just better suited to me. Same thing with what I've told people about their markbass combos although with the mark Bass it's not just the tone it's the cost in the Aesthetics.

Gents....forgive me but I have strayed...my last two attempts to import a V3 head have failed....I bought a TE Elf and 2*8 cab as the Peavey folks on TB and in China made it super easy.

Liking it so far and will add a second cab and a Rumble 500H for 'big rig' down the road...

btw - anyone else who commutes to gigs on a motorcycle, that 2*8 fits perfect behind me on the seat and easily handles bars and rehearsals...

Service manual guy, what is the "true" power of the 200?
First let me say I'm glad to see your post, and that you're not: dead; imprisoned, or abducted by aliens in a UFO.
'True Power Ratings' are huge bone of contention. A massive thread addressing such has recently exploded. As was explained to me by an engineer that must remain anonymous,
RMS (Root Means Square) is an old way of rating that only applies to class A and A/B tube amps. Modern solid state amps are best and most honestly rated in 'clean continuous watts'. This what Fender does. Clean Continuous Wattage is measured at 100Hz and 1,000Hz at both 8 ohms and 4 ohms. Other methods include variations on peak watts at very high levels of distortion. This is sometimes called 'burst' or 'duty cycle' rating. If you want wildly exaggerated wattage ratings while engaged in Voodoo engineering, this is your huckleberry. This is why a Rumble 500 is more powerful than an dampig pf800, or a 1000 watt sleazy or a messy D800 or a benzler 800.

So to actually answer your question, your Rumble 200 has all the Clean Continuous Watts that Fender's Principal Engineer, Dave Lewis says it has. Which is 140 watts @8ohms and 200 @4ohms. But in Voodoo 'duty cycle' watts it would be rated at 300 and 600. A Rumble 500 would easily be rated at 1,111 Voodoo Watts.

And there is a yorkville 410 in the practice space, so I tested it that way first, but both cab and combo at knee blast floor height. Master now has to come down from noon to between 1/4-1/3 and subtractive bass eq is needed.
Sound guy had me really pull the volume and low eq down, I had the 15" on top so I could hear the mids really well.
Rumble 410 would surely be similar
Indeed! The Rumble 210 cabinet would also work well.
