I have the 500 head and a single 210 and my main gigging rig. I've been wanting to pull the trigger on another 210. I've been saving gig money, so it's not a $ issue...I've just been dragging my feet, this maybe the motivation I need
Like others have said...with x2 210's you get the full 500 watts, get the sound up closer to your ears and can scale up or down depending on the room. Also I went with the 500 head vs a combo, for even more flexibility should I need to swap out cabinets, etc.
I believe I'd get the full 500W with 2 410s also, right?
Also, why is the 210 so popular? Two more speakers for $50 more seems like a no brainer, but I don't know anything lol. What's the reason?
Design differences. The 410 is an old brute force design from the days of ignorance to comb filtering and loss of mid dispersion.
I'm with you on the $50 no brainer, but at the same time, 2 rumble 210s would outperform a 410, they hit harder in the lows than a single 410, have more cabinet volume per driver, and the staggered design helps dispersion.
410 is not any different than any typical 410, but the 210 is part of the crop of new vertical staggered large box 210 (compared to say a traditional SWR/GK style 210).
And did I mention the form factor and how well it matches the combos?
2 210s is a lot easier to manage than a single 410 once you get older.
Portability. Stackability. Sound. 410's are a PITA to haul around and for the majority unnecessary. Stacking to get some output up where you can hear it is a big plus IMO.

So I guess the next question is, 500C and add a 210 cab later, or just get the head/cab then add the second 210 cab later?
That's awesome! Had no idea they were making an 800C. Any idea when these will be released to try out at the big box stores?
Thats the odd thing, the 800 combo showed up at NAMM...since then complete silence from Fender despite the fact that the combos are in the stores in a week or two

it's so nice to see everyone else is debating these things too, because I was going back and forth. What I ended up with is if in the future I wanted a different head, i would have the cabinets still and it would be easier to get rid of. However, I don't think you'd really have a problem selling a 500C either on the used market. I liked the idea of transporting just the head from where I practice to my house in case I just wanted to use the headphone jack for practicing at home.
I have a Rumble 15 and that little bugger has great sound.
I go back to clarence's bassman, it originally came with a 15" speaker, which would not hold up to bass frequencies, and 40 watts. Then C.L. used a 410 so the amp was useful. Comb filtering and loss of mids be damned. CLF wanted something that wouldn't break, so he built it
It's a good problem to have, both outcomes are positive, you just gotta jump on one, and then get to work.I am so up in the air as to get the 500C or the 800C
I was in the same boat and recently ordered the 800C.
It's my first Big Boy Amp and I wanted it to be future proof (within reason) and flexible.
IF i had pulled the trigger on the 500, I'm pretty damn sure I'd be happy.
But I'm betting that I'm going to be happier with the 800.
I'm expecting mine to arrive by Monday, so I will update with impressions, pics and choice owners manual pages.
I am asking because I don't know, this is interesting to me (maybe others too) and perhaps some can chime in with wisdom
With a 500 head 'would' 2 410 cabs stacked vertical be louder due more speakers over 2 210 with horns?
I had always heard "more speakers = louder not more watts"
Not knocking 210s as I am with you on the logistics
Or would any extra volume obtained, if any, not be worth it?
