Ha, I've had the manual for those up for days in my browser & haven't read all the presets yet. I'll have to do that before I go up to the Fender dealer to check one out.
Instead of using money on effect pedals (for example a chorus pedal for use on my fretless) I think I start save that money and some more for a future purchase of a Rumble Stage 800 (which is included the footswitch MGT4). In a teaching book (The Lost Art of Country Bass by Keith Rosier) I have read that 400 Watts is what is recommended for a bass player to be equipped with. Hence the Rumble Stage 800 is unique. I am flattered.

Which demo is that, sir? Seems every demo I've seen has had some interesting sounds.
Make notes and markups as you read thru the manual and then take them with you ! I have too many questions to trust to my (lately feeble) memory.
Turns out the local Fender dealer got them in two days ago, so maybe it's time for a road trip.
Some of my likings so far: Rumble vintage V3, Basic bass Chorus, Bassman 300 clean, Scoopy Snacks, Bootsy Funk, Ready Freddy. I had to tweak them more or less for my liking and set the volumes to match

Yeah that quick demo on the Fender web site sold me. I am not in a band at the moment so the FXs will be put to good use. I was going to get the 500c but for my wants at the moment the 800 looks to be the fit. If any of the FXs will work in a band setting all the better.
So, I am working on my timing, intonation and what not on my new fretless. I recorded a minor blues I call "Deplorable" all through the Rumble 500C DI. I played the bass track then overdubbed the sax--through the Rumble into my sound desk.
I am a newbie bassist--so, don't rip me hard. But all in all--I think the Rumble works great!

So, being the miser that I am... should the price of the 500 v3 combo start to drop now that the 800 is out?
As a person who recently found themselves in the market for that very same combo, I hope the answer is yes!!! I was thinking of pulling the trigger in April but the possibility of a price drop, gives me reason to maybe delay my timeline.

You can use a plain old expression pedal with it as well, for effects like Wah.
The line out is selectable, post/pre, stereo/mono.
The effects are moveable, as in before or after the preamp.
It reminds me of Line 6's Helix.
There's a parametric EQ in the stompboxes.
TBH the default settings sound no different than the "regular" 40, but there's a heap of different preamps to choose from.
I'm sure someone else can hear the more subtle differences, but to me each preamp just sounds like a different level of gain.
I felt the same way about the Super Champ X2 HD guitar amp.
All in, an extra $150 for all those effects & selectable preamps is a really great deal. I just wish the Studio 40 was out a year ago when I bought my 40.
Yeah, I was just noticing yesterday, on the local dealer's FB page, that I bought mine almost exactly a year ago.
In totally unrelated news, I have become my grandfather.
I knew better than driving up there on a late Friday afternoon, the traffic was pretty awful & I got stuck in the local university making a u-turn.
Good thing the university police weren't around (yes, they have their own), because I was on the sidewalk at one point. It's a walkway with a ramp, OOPS!

I was having some difficulty in a boomy room last week.
Turned off the vintage switch and turned on the tweeter.
It cleaned up nicely. On the down side, when I got home, the two wheeler snagged in an icy rut and I dumped the cabs. Pretty dinged up, but that's life I guess.

Changed my settings before gig. Motown instead of Rumble Vintage, very likeable Precision sound with neck pup with my Alleva 5-string.
