Fender Rumble Club

Hi Steadfast, I was looking at the Fender Stage 800 combo. What's your take on this one?

Not Steadfast, but I've had the Stage 800 for a little over 2 weeks. Prior to that I had a Rumble 500 for about a month. I really like the sound of the Rumble 500, but there was a slight vibration in it that I eventually came to realize was something in the cabinet. I took it back and by then they had the Stage 800 being displayed on the floor. I messed around with it and ultimately took it home.

If you want something that is simple and straight forward, stick with the R500. But if you want to noodle around a little bit and find your favorite models, the RS800 is worth the extra dough. I'm not one that will use more than 1 or maybe 2 tones when we play, so I could have gotten along very nicely with the R500, and do really like it. I still like the looks of the R500 and it's silver tweed cover better than the RS800. But the RS800 has the Fender Bassman 300 Pro model tone, and the Ampeg SVT model tone, which to me sound quite a bit nicer than the Rumble v3 model tone found in the RS800.

There were a few other model tones (Bassman TV, Dual Showman, Bassman '59, Super Bassman) and varieties of those amps and cabinets that I probably liked as much or better than the Rumble v3 model tone in this amp. Some just have that warmer tube sound that most of us like (But don't want to shell out $2,000+ to get. Not to mention hauling around a tube head and 8 x 10 cabinet). Especially the Bassman and SVT model tones. Overall there are 100 different preset amp models and 100 slots to save your own creations. They have varieties of speaker and cabinet sizes under many of the amps that are modeled (e.g. Bassman 4 x 10, 1 x 15, 2 X 15, etc..).

Overall there are probably 7 or 8 different model tones that I like better than the Rumble v3 model tone found in this amp. Plus there are a multitude of Reverb, Delay, Stomp Box, and numerous other effects you can add into any of the 100 preset model tones. Or you can build your own sound from scratch. There is a Small Room, Large Room, Small Hall, Large Hall, Arena and Ambient Reverb settings that when added in are pretty cool sounding. There are also different Compression settings.

I took the Clean Bassman 300 setting and added a little Gain to get a little more growl and saved it, and took the SVT setting and took out a little Gain and backed off on the treble just a bit and saved that too. I will see how they sound live and add in some compression, and will have 2 new settings that are tailored to the sounds I like. It does take some time to find the tones you like though, but it is fun taking those models and tailoring the tone to exactly what you want.

I've attached the User's Manual PDF that I requested from Fender, so I would have it on my phone. It gives you all of the details of the different model presets, speakers, cabinets, and effects available. The amp models start on page 16, followed by the cabinet speaker size and number. I believe the effects start on page 28.

Hope this helps..

I have it on good authority that Fender will be coming out with a matching 2x10 to throw under the Stage 800. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :bassist:

Also, since the cab dimension on the Stage 800 are identical to the Rumble 200/500 combos, so the same amp cover will fit all 3 models. Likewise, the Studio 40 is the same dimensions as the Rumble 40 combo (the cabinet dimensions are the same; some of the measurements include the feet, and others do not).

The outer dimensions might be the same, but at least for the 200/500 combos the difference in weight necessitates a different placement of the handle. Thus, a cover for the 200 will not fit the 500 and vice versa, as the opening for the handle will need to be in a slightly different location.

I had them both at the same time, and the same identical covers fit both the 500C and the 200C... AFAIK, there are no external differences between the two, including handle location...

Edited to add that I was wrong about the above...

They claim that it does fit:

"...the top handle opening is wider to accommodate the slightly varying handle locations (varying center of gravity)."

I searched, but can't seem to find a club for those of us who use and love the Fender Rumble series of amps. Any interest?

I've been playing at home with my Rumble 30 since late January and it seems to me like this amp puts out a good share for being so small! Originally I was looking at the Rumble 15 but went with the 30 because of the extra input jack, more wattage, and I read online reviews which said the 30 would be good enough to play with a band in a small venue even versus the 15 which didn't have as much bang.

Hope to hear form some fellow Rumble fans soon! :D

So this makes me the founding member, #1? I feel this is a big honor for someone so new on the forum!

Fender Rumble Club ... great idea. Have always liked them for small venues, practices, worship, etc - but had always resorted to larger and heavier rigs for night clubs... that is, until I discovered the new Rumble Stage 800. Holy cow! I was lucky enough to have borrowed one to gig-test last week - I knew in a few notes that I would not be returning it... I returned to the store the next day and just paid them. So a Rumble Club.. sounds great, sign me up - I’m a fan!

Here is a picture of the two combos side by side, where you can clearly see the different placement of the handles. Granted, it's not a huge difference, but enough that Roqsolid, who made my amp covers, have different specs for the covers for the 200 and 500 combos.

Hmmm - maybe those covers of mine accommodated both in the manner Tom Bowlus described, but I don't remember it that way... I stand corrected on the matter...

I posted a couple pages back that Fender confirmed that their cover would fit. I’ll know for sure soon enough but others here have already confirmed that the cover isn’t a problem.

Just bought a Rumble 100 and like it alot.
Of course now I'm wondering if I should have picked up the 200 instead.
Does it get much louder or go lower in frequency?
I play clean and don't use overdrive; R&B and rock.

IME/IMO, there is quite a jump in volume and depth when going from the 100C to the 200C - much more pronounced than the differences between the 200C and the 500C... I also play clean, and don't use OD - I play mostly country, rock, and blues - and the 200C has worked really well at many of my gigs since I got it, besides being an outstanding rehearsal amp...

I tried 'em both at GC. Like you, I almost never use the OD. I went w/ the 200 for the external spkr capability but just using the internal it's 140w. You only get the 200 w/ the external. Sound wise I thought they were similar. If I was doing it again,I think I'd have gone w/ the 100, saved 14 lbs,and pushed it into the PA if I needed more cojones.;)

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a second 210v3 cab....after wanting to but hesitating for about a year:)
Ive had a 500 head and 210 cab(not combo) as my main rig for about a year and a half, and typically have a 50/50 chance for FOH support. While I certainly don't need the additional cab for the "volume", I am looking to fill the room and disperse the sound a bit better, especially when there is no FOH or at larger venues, and to get the sound up closer to ear level. Besides...it looks pretty cool on stage having a backline of silver faced Fender amps:)

I have never played the Rumble 100, but I did play the Rumble 200 and liked it, and when I had to use that set-up again, I brought one of my Aguilar DB-12's, and that Rumble 200 took on a different personality, more punch, a little more depth but YMMV as they say

I've been kicking around the idea of a 112 or 210 partly to get the R200 up offa the floor. But,as always happens, another $$ project has come up,so for now I'm using either a wedge or amp stand. I haven't had to have either the gain or master above 11 o'clock,so volume is a non-issue.:bassist:
