Fender Rumble Club

Hey guys!

Things are going better here.

I did get the job I was interviewing for! It's not 100% official yet, they still need to finish my back ground check and I need to get together with the manager for filling out paper work and scheduling shifts. But HOORAY! :D

I have all my knobs set to 12 o'clock too, Broadstbully. Kind of for lack of figuring how else I want to do it! What type of sound do you feel like this setting gives you? I use roundwound strings on both my basses.

I had the pleasure of jamming out at a nice sized bar with my Fender Jazz Bass & Rumble 350 head. On the provided backline was a pretty decent Trace Elliot 2 X 15 cab.

Let me tell you that head has great balls! :D Filled that venue with thick rich tone with tons of headroom and power to spare. Ran the volume at 11 o'clock and was plenty loud without any PA support needed. Bass at 1 o'clock for a very modest 3 db of boost. No boominess and NO MUD BUCKET here. Mids boosted about 6db (2 o'clock) at 400Hz gave great growl and cut through the mix with ease. Treble 0 boost/cut. Sounded GREAT!

Two other bass players played through it and positively loved it. One was actually stunned that it was a Fender Rumble. The club owner remarked about how good I sounded and asked the name of the amp. Both drummers I jammed with also told me how much they enjoyed my playing & my sound. :D

Two of the guitarists liked my sound. One very much so. Another definitely disapproved because I didn't play the mud bucket and I could be heard loud & clear. :spit:

Rumbles Rock, Baby! Yeah!

Rumble 150 combo. Its perfect for practice, and when used on stage while also going direct through house system it really does a great job.
If I don't feel the need for the big guns its been reliable and with just my Sans Amp Bass DI it sounds great

I've recently tested out my fender rumble 150 with my effects. and it sounded pretty cool. it sounded really heavy with my digitech bass driver. it gives it a warm heavy sound. I also tried with my ebs metaldrive. that pedal too gives it a heavy sound, only it has more clarity. I also tested my danelectro cool cat cc-1 chorus pedal with the fender rumble. and it sounded nice, warm, and lushful. it even sounded pretty cool when I combine my distortion pedals with my chorus pedal. it gives me a grungy and heavy sound. I'll test out my zoom b3 with my fender rumble tomorrow and see how it sounds. I'll bet it sounds just as awesome as my stomp-box set up.

I'll bet it does sounded awesome with the sansamp bass driver. I can imagine that it adds more beef to the fender rumble.

Hey guys, I have a pretty ridiculous Rumble story for you!
I've played guitar for 17 years and finally jumped into bass. I'm what you call a gearhead and know more about gear than I have chops to play. But I'm not ashamed, I want a full band setup so I can record at home (drums next when I can afford it).

Since I recently sold an amp I was able to buy a used bass and amp(s). First I got a Squier Jaguar bass off Craigslist and it came with a Rumble 15. That's fine and good but I know it is never going to cut it with other instruments. So I found a Rumble 100 210 for a great price. Cool. Then what should pop up on ebay but a Rumble 150 (chassis only) for $70. Yes please! I happen to have a 1x15 cabinet which I salvaged from the garbage. I think the chassis will fit right in and I ordered an eminence 15 (the one SWR used in their Black Beauty combo).

So that's how I got 3 Fender Rumbles and I really don't play bass yet. I do have a question though:
-is there a way for me to link up the 100 and 150 somehow to get a quasi 250 watt setup or at least a 2x10 + 1x15 "stereo" rig?

I'm stoked!
Cheers

Yes, Natman you can. 1) plug your bass into the Rumble 150. 2) go from the effects send ( just use a regular guitar cable) from the Rumble 150 to the input of the 100. Bingo! You've got it! See? Easy!

If your Rumble 100 also has a effects loop just plug into effects return and that will also work using the pre-amped signal from your Rumble 150 straight into the power amp section of the 100.

Either way, it will work just fine.

Enjoy, and Welcome to The Fender Rumble Club! :D

Sweet! That makes perfect sense. I'll try plugging into the 100's return so that I'm only using one preamp but I'll also try the input too. I don't think I can damage anything either way? I'm giving some thought to bp102s for the 100 but in no hurry. Thanks a bunch linnin!

You're quite welcome, Natman. The front end of the Rumble 150 has excellent tone. I love the low & high mid controls.

As far as woofers are concerned, I wouldn't trade one ceramic magnet design for another. The Fender Special Design drivers are actually very good and utilize ceramic magnets and are widely suspicioned to be made by Eminence at their factory in China. Eminence BP102's are made in Eminence, Kentucky and are also ceramic magnets. That's why I went with an Eminence Neo. Neos are much more like the old AlNiCo magnets only much lighter and more powerful. Ceramic magnets are inexpensive and easy to make, but are low magnetic flux.

Hey guys! We've been having technical difficulties at my place. Certain companies aren't communicating well so our services were partially turned off.

I'll distribute the numbers as soon as I get verification of who wants one.

From this point forward, if you don't have a number and would like one, please say so in your post! :)

I've recently tested out my zoom b3 with my fender rumble 150 and it sounded pretty cool. also I tested out my stomp box set-up once again and they too sounded awesome. also it sounded really smooth with the scoop voice engaged. I really like how that turns out. however for live performances, I would use my stomp boox set-up. pretty soon, I will be purchasing a digitech hardwire sc-2 valve distortion and see how it sounds with my fender rumble 150. I can imagine how awesome that pedal would sound on my bass. here's the youtube clip that inspires me to buy that pedal.
