Fender Rumble Club

The V3 200 Combo is designed to be used with an extension, so it needs a 8 Ohm driver inside.
The old 100 Combos were not designed for a extension cabinet, but neither was my V3 40 Combo & it has a 8 Ohm driver:

I guess I should have figured that. Someone must have wired his amp for an extension cabinet. Sounds like a bad idea!

Yes. It can be deceiving. I had a 25 that was rattling like crazy. I thought it had blown, so I bought another one. Then I plugged in the old one in a different location and it is fine. There was something it was resonating with causing the noise.

Doesn't matter provided you can come up with the original receipt. Maybe the seller you got it from has it.
One more thing, play it with a headset. When you plug into the headset jack, it defeats the speaker. That will tell you if it is the amp or not. And, move it to a different place in the house. You could be getting resonance from some place in the room.
A heavy metal finial on a lamp shade got me once. Took forever to figure that one out.

This is the V1 original Rumble 100 1x15 from 2003-2009 we are talking about here, so please pay attention.

I'm sorry for my stupidity. Next time I'll just ask you first.

hmmm.. thanks for all the info - I knew I was in the right place - now I've just got to decide if I want to open it up and mess with it (despite my lack of knowledge of music equipment I've actually got a relatively solid understanding of electronics and wiring) OR just take it back... I got a good deal on it but nothing I could not find again

Just buy a brand new Fender Rumble 200 1x15 combo! It'll do you proud every time :thumbsup:

Last night I headed over to play with a guitarist and took the Rumble along. I also took the Ibanez Mikro (it was the only bass that had a gig bag within arm's reach). I couldn't give it much power as although he was playing through a small PA, he couldn't keep up. I had gain around 11 o'clock and master a between 9 and 10. I took the B3 but only used it as a tuner.

Anyway, I noticed all night that I had a bit of grit when digging in, weird but not unpleasant. A very warm feeling. When I was packing up I realized the Overdrive was on at a very low level (maybe 8 o'clock) which is something I never use.

Now I need to start playing around with the overdrive also :facepalm:

@Kipp Harrington just bought a Rumble 500 head & a Rumble 4x10" cabinet!

I'm betting he will be grinnin' like he's sinnin' when he unboxes that & fires it up.
Haven’t got it just yet. Going to run this by the wife first. May be an unpleasant evening! Lol. If I get it, and I think I probably will, yes... I will be grinnin’ like I’m sinnin’!

I knew I was in the right place
