Fender Rumble Club

Love my 200c. It’s just not that much bigger than a 100. But with more oomph.
I've had my 200c since Nov. 2015 and still love it. IF I'd known some of the things I've learned on Rumble Club-and the Wiki- I mighta gone a different route, but I have only one complaint: not enuff gigs:(. (I don't think I can blame the amp for that!)

I agree I play my Les Paul through my 200c. Great! Satisfied!!

I play mostly baritone when I play guitar, and I usually played through a Quilter head and a 4x12. My 200c sounds slightly better for the clean stuff, not quite as good for the heavy stuff, and led me to decide that it's not worth keeping the 4x12, which wouldn't fit anywhere in my house but the living room.

There was no V2 Rumble 25, it was "upgraded" to a 30. So, yours is a V1 Rumble 25 that is from 8 to 15 years old. Any hissing noise or static could be from old, corroded connections on the outside or inside, which may require an amp tech to find and fix, if possible.

Hopefully, any other V1 Rumble owners here can tell you how theirs is doing and what they may have done to clean up the sound.

Please, DO NOT wear your headphones while plugging them in to a powered up amp! I hope I misunderstood and you're not doing that! And plug the AUX cord into your phone first, then the amp; just like like plugging your instrument cable into your bass first, then the amp. Better yet, turn the amp off while plugging in any connections. Hearing is too valuable to risk so easily.

Yes, that's how the AUX input works, even in the latest V3 Rumbles. You control the volume from whatever device you're plugging into the amp. This helps keep the amp cost down.

Auck! House wiring is really difficult to diagnose over the internet. Get a very knowledgeable person to troubleshoot that in person. Enough said.

Good luck!

Thank you for the detail explanation G-Dog, I really appreciate your time and effort. It was helpful

When car shopping earlier this year, I looked at a few Hondas, and others, settled on a Skoda Yeti. Even more flexible than the Honda HRV (I think). It's a med sized SUV, with rear seats that can fold down, forward, or be totally removed, making it like a small van.
The car dealers were all rather bemused when the 1st thing Id look at was the rear compartment and its dimensions, how the seats can be arranged and if it had a flat "tray" or bottom.
This Yeti was a real surprise. It wasn't on my radar at all.

The Rumble 500C fits in the rear without any seat folding and the rear tray/ luggage cover thingy, stays up. But, I do have to fold one rear seat down to have a bass in its soft case in along side the 500C

With the seats OUT, I've had a (big 90s) 2x115 JBL PA speaker and powered mixer, stands, NV215 cab, Super Bassman, double gig bag (with 2 basses in), lead bags and two people in, comfortably.

Been toying with the idea of getting a Studio 40, & came across one at G.C. today.
It was dead. The display lit up, but there was no text & no sound.

Sounds like a firmware issue. Probably lost power during an update. If Fender is smart they have a way for the end user to plug their Studio/Stage into their PC and restore it should this issue arise. If they're not it's gotta go to Fender to have it's firmware reflashed.

But technical stuff aside it's a shame you didn't get to try it out. I only got like 30 minutes to play around with one but it blew me away in that time, and I found it easy enough to navigate around the UI. It certainly did nothing to stop me wanting one.

This is what I do Studio 40 <effects send> -> <input> Rumble 40 Have not found a situation yet that it does not work well in. I am playing a big outdoor gig this summer. Opening for Clint Black. If they do not offer backline I will be using this setup for that gig.

Well GonePlaid and Gravedigger Dav have both done gigs with the Rumble 40. The Studio 40 is IMO the practice amp. So a (Studio) 40 may also be something to consider as it's rather surprising, and apparently not much quieter then a 100.

What you'll need for gigs will depend on what you're playing and where. Actually because you seem to want more of a practice amp and the potential gigs would be small and quiet a Rumble 40 could do the trick, and a 100 should be perfectly fine.

If you can play them all side-by-side with your bass before you buy you should. See em, hear em, pick em up.

Oh, another thing you can do is chain the amps. So you could do things like:

Studio 40 <effects send> -> <input> Rumble 40
Studio 40 <effects send> -> <effects return> Rumble 500
Rumble 100 <effects send> -> <effects return> Rumble 100
And so forth, so long as it's at least a Studio/100 as the master amp

So there really isn't a wrong choice when you really get down to it. Personally I'd still go the 200C if I were only going to have 1 amp. If I was willing to buy a second in the future and I only wanted a practice/small gig amp I'd go for a Studio 40.

Totally cool, Jeremy! Do you ever send anything to FOH? If so, which one, the Studio, or other? Oo, oo! Or do you ever send both, if different at all? :wideyed:

For that matter, do you ever use the 40 to EQ the Studio input any differently? If so, why? Or, why not? :confused:

Congrats on the CB opening gig! Yeah, they'll probably have a backline for you. But, if not, (big IF), you might consider splitting your signal to each amp to offer them a modeling line from the Studio AND a non-modeled signal from the 40! Sort of a 'wet & dry'. I'd imagine their pro soundmen might could make you a real killer mix that way. I dunno. Just a thought. :whistle:

I have a 100 and gig with it occasionally. It works fine for small club dates and I've never even had the need to use the DI out to the house PA. I've also used it for a couple of park district gigs outside and it was plenty loud even in an outdoor setting.

Most of the time my 100 is at home as a bedroom amp, but gets used fairly regularly when friends come over to do loud garage band stuff just 4 fun. My bass-playing buddy just brings his precision over and loves the 100's tone.

I thought long and hard before choosing between a 100 and 200 and opted for the 100 mostly because it was a bit smaller and easier to transport easily and carry around. It would have been interesting to have both and compare, but I'm not sure there's all that much difference between the 100 and the 200 in actual volume using only the single speaker. The 2oo sounds like a lot more, but that's only if you use a external cabinet which would have gone against the whole reason to have a small combo amp.

When I gigged regularly as a bass player I had a much larger rig, but the 100 is a very nice "small venue" amp. My lil' rig is visible back on page 1190, post #23783.

Post #24503 relates my experience with gigging out the 100 for a bar gig with about 150 patrons.
I have to disagree about not that much difference between the 100 and 200 - the 200 sounds and feels much louder. Lucky for me I have both and it gives me the versatility to choose which one comes to the gig with me. I always put through the PA anyway just to add some real bottom end even at low volume gigs. The 100 is a great amp, love mine, but the 200 is that much better again.

I sold my Ampeg svt 4 pro and ampeg 8x10 about a year ago and have been looking into the Fender Rumble series. I like the Fender Rumble 800 2x10 and I've read in here that it pairs well with the fender 2x10 extension cab and also the fender 1x15 extension cab.

So my question is which one do ya'll like better in the pairing with the extension cab? I've personally never played around with a 1x15 before but I'm sure it would crank out a lot more bass than the 2x10. Just looking for thoughts or personal experiences
