Fender Rumble Club

Been messing with the EXP-1 a bit since getting it the other day.

Turns out these labels for which to plug in are irrelevant. The MGT-4 passes through from either side.
In retrospect I probably should have gotten a Mustang GT amp instead of the VOX, then I could use the MGT-4 & EXP-1 on both it & the Studio 40.

Configuring the effects to work with the EXP-1 is a bit of a pain, but eventually I will start saving presets so I can avoid setting it up EVERY time I turn it on.

Hey everyone. My Rumble 500 arrived today, it's awesome. The only thing that's a little odd is that when I use headphones, at higher volumes, my bass is trying to come out of the speakers. Is this normal? To keep it in the headphones, I have to keep the Input Gain and Master Volume at about 10 o'clock.
Welcome to the Fender Rumble Club @Michael Byrn. No, that is not normal. Try exercising the headphone output jack by inserting & withdrawing your headphone plug many times. Also try a different set to see if that makes a difference. Put the headphones on a convenient nearby human while you play and listen to the speakers.

Ok, I only amp about twice a year, and it's always very small quiet venues even then. However, when I do plug in, I like a reliable clean no messing around setup. Thus, Rumble 15 v.1, Behringer 4 channel mini-mixer, Shure SM-58. The whole rig weighs about 25 pounds including the mike stand and loads in and out in one trip. I had a MF gift cert and found some open-box deals, the whole rig came in under $100.

Question for all my Rumble brothers and sisters.

On my 500C when I engage the overdrive and turn only the "Drive" knob up, my volume rises considerably. I've noticed in gigs if I dime the drive knob I have to bring the level knob down quite a bit to match my clean volume. Is this the norm?

I had (wishfully)though that I could set the level knob and master knob the same and the volume would match regardless of how much I turn the drive knob.

Thanks, Linnin. I will definitely try thx

What about your Gain setting? That also works with the Drive and Level. Here's a good explanation from the Wiki Page's Rumble Talks:

The first amp I played bass(Gibson EB-3, mudbucker only)through was a Fender Super Reverb(4x10)guitar amp. I was backing an acoustic pianist and the volume never got loud enough to hurt the speakers. It actually sounded very good but I would've given my left...uh,...ear, that's it, for a Rumble type amp. This was in 67-68 so there wasn't anything remotely like a Rumble back then. I got a workout every time I loaded that monster in/outta the car.:help:BTW, the equipment was Navy issue. Officially I was a saxist.

I know this is wrong of me to mention on here but the BXD12 Bugera @1000watts with the built in kick back double back ported cab is a butt pounder on stage. But I still use my Rumble 40 on a stand through my 3000watt PA to play my gigs. Just sayen the Bugera BXD12 @ $299 is a steal. But I will always be a Rumble owner.... I have that as a backup and yes owning 2 basses I own 2 amps.....doesn't everybody?
I find the 100 is not quite enough to compete with a drum kit. With PA support its fine for the room, but hard to hear on stage. 200 minimum, id say. And you did catch its only 140w w/o an extension speaker? Took me a while to notice that ;)

200 head + 2x10! But same 140w rating as the combo tho....

I UPGRADED the Rumble 100 speaker....to an Eminence Neo Basslite S2012. It now sounds KILLER...clean, articulate and LOUD without distortion......AND I purchased the Rumble 200 (I couldn't pass up the deal I got). I actually like the upgraded 100 better for my Big Band playing.....and these guys are LOUD. All details are posted on TalkBass under Fender Rumble 100 speaker upgrade.

If you DO go with the Rumble 200, you'll find that the 140 watts through the main is very Loud and clean. Fender decided to put a high quality 300 watt Eminemce 15 in the 200. It looks like, according to specs posted here on talkbass, that the Eminence speaker they assigned to the Rumble 100 is only rated at 75watts.....and the other specs are less than stellar.....

BTW.....my Rumble 100 now weighs 20.6 pounds, if weight is a factor for you.

Yeah, I read that thread. The Eminence Basslites are killer bass guitar drivers. I put an S2012 in my Rumble 75 and was more than pleased. Thinking of putting an S2010 in my Studio 40 as it is the preferred upgrade in the Rumble 40, but I am going to wait until after NAMM. Should there be a Rumble Club 400 1x15 combo, both my Rumble 200 combo and Studio 40 will be sold or traded in on one. I only need one amp anyway.
