Fender Rumble Club

Nothing worst than the dreaded "On Time for Scheduled Delivery by End of Day Thursday" but you never see "Out for Delivery"... Then - 2 pm or so on Thursday there's the "On Time for Scheduled Delivery by End of Day Friday" update... Well, I kinda figured that since at 10 am the shipment was sitting on the docks in a city 100 miles from me.

Of course the dread is replaced with joy when FedEx finally arrives!

Welcome Rumbler #1014! Nice! Can't tell from the pictures, but is that a 500 head and 2 1x15s? You will be way beyond noodling now. Rumble On!

Whoops, should have specified! That's the 500 head sitting on one of the two matching 210's. I think the black faced cabs are only available on 210's. And I think I read somewhere that those are being discontinued, so I figured I better get all that I wanted now while I could still find them. The cabs and head were all ordered from zZounds.

The axe is a 2018 Squier VM I picked up a couple of weeks ago - my 1st bass ever. Already started modifing it to look like the bass in my avatar. I've got the chrome covers just haven't drilled the holes yet. Already replaced the chrome knobs the bass came with. I'll leave the electronics stock for the time being. I wouldn't know good pups from bad pups at this stage of the game.

Thanks for the number!

New fellow Rumbler here! Ok, a little background. I was in the market for another amp, preferably a combo or at least not too heavy. I already have a small, discontinued Hartke B600 which I LOVE. I'm telling you, that little amp is a sleeper both in terms of tone and also volume, considering it's only 60 watts. Anywhoo, I first ordered the GK 112 combo. Of course when it came in I was very excited and couldn't wait to see what all the hubbub was about. Sadly, I was quite disappointed. To my ears the cheap little Hartke sounded BETTER! I "slept on it" and tried it the next day - same thing. I fiddled with this and that setting on both amps, this and that bass, but NOPE - to me the Harke sounded better. Soooo, back it went. I then figured I'd treat myself to a tube amp since a bunch of the stuff I was trying to sell, sold, and I had a larger budget. The Ampeg PF50T arrives - WOOHOO!. Can't wait to try it out - welllllll...... it sounded very nice, VERY nice, but the little Hartke sounded JUST AS GOOD. I then had my son come in and I did blind A/B tests - couldn't tell the difference - I kid you not!. Now I'm getting bummed but I says to myself "self, at least try a Rumble". So the Rumble now arrives - I try it out and AHA!! I'm happy! I got the 500 combo. Now mind you my wife is home so I didn't want to blow her eardrums out but I can tell from low to moderately low volume (translate that to 9 O'clock on the gain and the volume BARELY on, it is FAT sounding, great tone, sounds great on the low B and can get a wide variety of tones. This is definitely a keeper! My favorite settings so far are the vintage button activated with the rest of the EQ flat for fingerpicking and the contour button engaged with EQ flat for slap. DONE!!!
I too sing the praises of the B600 that I picked up on a zsounds closeout sale for $129 a few years back. I bi-amp it with a Carvin Probass 100 when no one’s home and I want a bit more volume than I get from the Rumble 25.

I have been messing around with the gain on my Rumble 40, and find that at least at low practice volume, I like the sound of the gain completely maxed and the volume pretty low to compensate. Is there any reason why this could be bad for the amp? I'm keeping the overall volume quite low, but I find that I like the bit of extra hair on the sound I get by doing this.

Here's a link about Fender Rumble Overdrive, Adjust Gain, Drive and Level to Taste that should help you. Lots more info in the other Fender Rumble Talks on the wiki page in my signature.

Thanks for posting these links, will give them a read. Place where I back up some friends at an open mic peroiodically is a small little coverted one room schoolhouse, they generally have a Rumble 40 set up as a backline. I generally find it difficult to get a tone out of it that’s not all nasally souning. I know its got to be in settigs ‘cause I’ve heard other bassist play through it & sound OK.

Other peeps often bring their own gear & set it up so last month I brought my small cab, a Markbass 210 with a GK MB200 & the house guy got his panties all wadded up. I like the GK gear as I find the EQ easy to dial in, other amps are oftentimes fiddly.
