Fender Rumble Club

I think that once you do have a chance to record yourself correctly, you will be pleased with the live sound you get, and the Line out or XLR out will give you a VERY nice tone through the PA. I have been very pleased with mine. I can highly recommend the 210 ext cab as well, I love mine. Every amp has its own "sound" and sometimes it may not be for everyone....but give it a chance.
Now, @Linnin, you can have the floor and proceed with your regularly scheduled snarky attitude and general BS ;)
#1. I remember that "Living in Sin" song. My brother had the 8-track or 45 or something. I have been on a quest to wreck my hearing & that of others since that time period.

#2: I am from North Louisiana. Are you really in Hooterville, AR?

#3: I sincerely expect my Rumble to sound awesome pretty much anywhere. But I was never after that bright, punchy "modern" tone to begin with, assuming that is what is mean on here by the adjective given the context.

and so they are
I sat in at a "jam" session last week. I used a friends Markbass amp that was there. Out of consideration for him, I didn't fool with the EQ. I was seriously unimpressed. I'm fairly certain I could get a sound I liked out of it but there wasn't that much time.

HAHAHAHAHA! Glad you caught the "Living In Sin" thing...Gene wrote some of the best cheesy lyrics in the business, no doubt about it...I just can't help but love it though! Yes, I am from Arkansas (Clarksville), but not Hooterville....it just feels like Hooterville around here sometimes (Green Acres)....being in North LA I am sure you know that feeling. :)
I have found that, regardless of the amp I am playing through, I still sound like "me"...some amps are just easier to get that tone out of than others. I am generally happy with most amps that are light, portable, loud, and dependable, and the Rumbles are all that!
And when I need more, I have this:

Thanks, I'm frustrated we still haven't done some studio recordings. The others seem OK to rough it and avoid the cost. No regrets, I Bloody love the Rumble - its got soul for my Fender Jazz. Other amps I tested - Markbass, TC Electronic, Aguilar, Ashdown seemed empty.....
See my reply above that covers eXtream Software Development's USB class-compliant driver for Android (it also mentions an Apple solution).

Even the most basic audio interface will let you use the DI output (post-EVERYTHING) on your Rumble!

Or, you could use two mics set up as an ORTF or an M/S pair, and record the entire group live. For ORTF, you need 2 cardiod pattern mics. For M/S, one of the mics needs to support a figure-8 pattern and the other a cardiod pattern.

Recording studio in your smartphone!

Why is that always the case?

I've used a few SWR rigs and some TC stuff at gigs where I didn't use my amp and I hated it. Thin sounds, not enough volume, ugly piles of gear haphazardly placed atop old cabs. I've never once used backline gear and thought damn this is a nice rig, except my first gig as a guitarist playing through some sort of Marshall Half Stack with my trusty Squier Bullet.

I certainly have played through my share of "ugly piles of gear haphazardly placed atop old cabs" HA! Love that description! But I have also played through some amazing sounding Trace Elliott, Aguilar, and GK rigs though as well. I personally would love a Fender SB300 and matching 610 cab as my gigging rig :bassist:
But, I do have to say that I was recently at a friend's wedding and the wedding band's bass player was playing through a Markbass 210 combo atop a Markbass 410 cab...Holy Guacamole! I could not believe how great he sounded! It was a pretty big barn/converted dance hall..."Average Joe" kind of bass player and I believe he was playing a Peavey bass. He told me later he was not in the PA at all. I gave him serious kudos for his tone....He smiled and said "you can thank that bright yellow thing over there on the stage."

I've certainly heard plenty of different rigs live that sounded great, even some of the rigs I used. I just find it weird that when I then use those rigs I don't like em at all.

I've also used lots of amps I liked from GK, Ampeg, Peavey, Markbass, Yorkville/Traynor, and Fender. I also want to try Aguilar, and Mesa amps. I'm very happy though with the Rumble for bass and guitar, it has the right cross-section of sound, features, price, portability, and power for me to have chosen it above anything else I've played.

My friend's Markbass(1x12) was set up for the sound he likes with his J bass-very trebly. If I'd known I was gonna play as long as I wound up playing I woulda brought mine in.
