New fellow Rumbler here! Ok, a little background. I was in the market for another amp, preferably a combo or at least not too heavy. I already have a small, discontinued Hartke B600 which I LOVE. I'm telling you, that little amp is a sleeper both in terms of tone and also volume, considering it's only 60 watts. Anywhoo, I first ordered the GK 112 combo. Of course when it came in I was very excited and couldn't wait to see what all the hubbub was about. Sadly, I was quite disappointed. To my ears the cheap little Hartke sounded BETTER! I "slept on it" and tried it the next day - same thing. I fiddled with this and that setting on both amps, this and that bass, but NOPE - to me the Harke sounded better. Soooo, back it went. I then figured I'd treat myself to a tube amp since a bunch of the stuff I was trying to sell, sold, and I had a larger budget. The Ampeg PF50T arrives - WOOHOO!. Can't wait to try it out - welllllll...... it sounded very nice, VERY nice, but the little Hartke sounded JUST AS GOOD. I then had my son come in and I did blind A/B tests - couldn't tell the difference - I kid you not!. Now I'm getting bummed but I says to myself "self, at least try a Rumble". So the Rumble now arrives - I try it out and AHA!! I'm happy! I got the 500 combo. Now mind you my wife is home so I didn't want to blow her eardrums out but I can tell from low to moderately low volume (translate that to 9 O'clock on the gain and the volume BARELY on, it is FAT sounding, great tone, sounds great on the low B and can get a wide variety of tones. This is definitely a keeper! My favorite settings so far are the vintage button activated with the rest of the EQ flat for fingerpicking and the contour button engaged with EQ flat for slap. DONE!!!
