Fender Rumble Club

My Stage 800 came yesterday, fired it up for the 1st time this afternoon. I'm full time, and this will be my main amp, so I'll be starting with it at sound check tomorrow.
First impressions are, it's loud. Not sure exactly which speakers are in there, but it loves slap and handles low C and D really well.
I initially started to build my own patch based on the studio pre and then add effects that I'd use to that patch. Then, I started to go through the presets with the footswitch, the amp was across the room, so I couldn't see what was coming until it was patched in.
I'm very happy with it, the chorus and envelope filter are really nice. I'm not so much a fan of delay and reverb in general, so haven't spent much time with them. There are a couple of drive presents I like, and I'll probably end up tweaking and EQ'ing one and using that.
The core tone is very strong and even. I'm really impressed by the useability, there are almost endless combinations and options to find your tone, or make your own. The compressor and noise gate also seem excellent.
Obviously I need to put more time into it and make it my own, but so far it offers more than I'd dare hope for, and I was expecting good things!
I'm gonna try get some video demos done soon!

Awesome. Glad you like it. The studio pre creates my main sound at the moment.

I just remember that I've got the tone I want, I prefer the silver grille, and my stompboxes do effects better.




... I'd probably still trade in my 500 head for a Stage 800 head if Fender made one...:roflmao:

Yeah, for what I do-or might do-my R40 and R200c cover the situations. Still, it might be fun to mess with one.........:unsure:

The Stage and Studio are really cool and I was very impressed with the Studio 40 for the half hour I spent with it.

With that said as much as I've tried to reason it out there'd be no purpose to having either for me. I very much prefer separate heads. And really the only other style of sound I'd be likely to go for would be a GK or Markbass sound... and I could just buy those heads and have the real thing.

I've tried plenty of modeling amps and pedals and they always impress me to demo but underwhelm me to live with. They never seem to have the feel or the soul of something that's purpose built. Not to mention how finicky they can be live.

I'd still be very tempted by a Stage 800 head but now that I'm thinking about it from the side of here's why I shouldn't buy one well... it probably doesn't make much sense either. I just need a friend to buy a Stage or Studio instead.;)

This is the 2nd time I've had to correct you on this, Soul Man: The Rumble Club 400 with 115 was @Linnin's creation! Just my phototype.

The Studio 40 cannot power any external cab without modifications.

However, you could run an instrument cable from the (mono) FX Send of the Studio 40 to the FX Return of a 500 combo to get a total of 390 watts (40+350)! Then add an 8 ohm cab to the 500 for a total of 540 watts!!

So if I link a studio 40 and 500 together, (using the effects loops) which amp do i plug my bass into, the 40 or 500?
Can you use controls and volumes from both combos or only one?

for a while, i've been contemplating the rumble 25 vs the lighter rumble 40. getting a combo for our small condo seems like a good thing - i don't always want to play my larger rig at 1 am.

but this morning i had a thought. since replacing the speaker in my current cab (GK neo 112), it hasn't had a flavor i liked. i've never heard a fender amp that let me down for what it was supposed to be, so i got to thinking about the rumble 115. not quite as budget as i wanted, but it would allow me to use my hartke LH500 head, which i love through a number of cabs - well, all the ones i've played it with except for my own cab after the speaker replacement.

so i'm hoping you rumblers can give me some insight. can you get decent high end and articulation through the rumble 115 cab, and does it sound good when the head is turned way down to middle of the night volume?

and for low volume purposes only, would you go with a rumble 40 or a head with the rumble 115?

I prefer headphones for low volume and would probably just get a used preamp or one of those tiny headphone amps.

Then you can also look at getting the 115 for when you need more volume. I can't say if it's a very articulate cab, I've only used the 200 combo in store and I don't go for articulate. With a horn and the dryness that 15's have I'd imagine it would do alright. I'd strongly recommend bringing your head with you to a store and trying it out though.
