Fender Rumble Club

I find, it is somewhat muddy. Sometimes, depends on the room, and I can adjust my EQ, but it doesn't remove the problem alltogether.

Are any of the other rumble speakers like this, or only the R100 one? What speaker is in it, an eminence? Can Someone give me the model?

I really don't want to be swapping the speaker in it, it's a lot of work, and, I can only assume a lot of money aswell!:banghead::rollno:

out of curiosity, what are some replacement speakers for the r100 that will still have that punchy rumble sound, just without the boom, mud, and with some extra clarity?

RumbleMan, I think you will find the answers you seek in the link I posted above in response to KenPompanoBeach's post. Here it is again, for your convenience.

Thanks for that, Kenny! For those who may be interested, I've linked the thread you refer to, with your name on it, in the Fender Rumble Speaker Replacements section of the Rumble Wiki page (linked in my signature).

I thought so. Guitar Center, Sam Ash, Musicians friend and Sweetwater all show that they are no longer available. I ended up ordering one yesterday from American Music....I believe that it is a clearance sale price. They were $500 before. Now I'll have a shootout between the Rumble 350 and the New (discontinued) Rumble 500 on top of my newly purchased 115 Rumble Cabinet. One of them will not stay.....

Great, Youngster! I seem to recall that you've been wanting to do your own comparison of your 350 to the 500 for quite some time. Please let us know your findings.

OH YEA!! I will. You're right. I have been jones'n a little bit since a few years. It should arrive tonight. The Band is coming over for rehearsal tonight as well so not only am I hopeful about the head in and of itself but I will be able to try it right away with the whole group. "In The Mix!!"

Here's my setup with my Rumble Studio 40 and 1979 Fender Precision Bass. The presets I like most use the Studio Tube pre amp, the Ampeg (Rockin Peg) and the KGB 800. I like that low warm compressed sound.

BTW, I am the original owner of this bass, that I bought in 1982, from Ray Henning's Heart of Texas Music in Austin Texas. Ray himself sold it to me. Proud to say I've kept it all this time.

I finally got around to drawing up the schematics for the Rumble 210v3 crossover. Thanks again for the help eric_B!

Hopefully I'll get the project of separating amp and cab of a 500c started soon!

I bought the exact bass from HOT Music in Waco - Ray's nephew Timmy sold me mine! Sadly, I sold it to fund the purchase of a G&L El Toro (which I also sold). Wish I had them both back!

:laugh::roflmao::D:smug: Such evocative imagery!

Not only is it "just money" but, "You Can't Take It With You!!!" I was getting estate planning legal advice for my mother-in-law yesterday and the attorney stated that is the single most common thing people don't realize. For most people, your end-of-life care will suck up whatever money you've saved, anyway, before you qualify for Medicaid. Then, after you're gone, the state Medicaid office will demand repayment of their disbursements to your nursing home(s), or whatever, from your estate (sale of your house)! So, that your heirs may be not only S.O.L., but also stuck paying for your funeral . . . . unless you have, and follow, a very good estate plan.
After my wife passed away and I had to deal with a lot of issues, I paid for and have my own funeral including the niche in the columbarium. I also have my will in order.
When I was making the arrangements, the agent was telling me that the transportation of the body was only covered for (IIRC) about 50 miles. I told him I was considering moving to Austin and if I died there, I just get him to prop me up in the back seat like "Weekend at Bernie's" and drop me off at the funeral home.

I own the Rumble 100...LOVED the size and weight as I'm 66 with a lousey back. After a while I did find the sound unsatisfactory...unarticulate....muddy...etc. I play electric Big Band bass with a G&L L2000. After MUCH research I decided the weakness in the 100 is a low quality speaker. (The low specs can be found posted by another helpful player before my entry ..it's actually a 75 watt speaker with a small voice coil ....etc..see below)I replaced the stock speaker with an Eminence Neo S2012..150 watts...2" voice coil... and lined the cabinet with 1/2" sonic barrier. WOWIE....What a difference. (See my entries under Replacing the Speaker in the Rumble 100....I give a step by step guide) Now every note on the bass speaks clearly and articulately. Still warm and wonderful...just a higher quality.... I also own the Rumble 200...which I love....it COMES with a high quality speaker which is great. I'll soon be lining THAT cabinet. The 100 now weighs 21.5 lbs.....the 200 weighs 34.5 lbs....

Based on this, I did the same - replaced the OEM speaker in my 100 with an Eminence S2012. My experience mirror's Ken's - it's a huge improvement. The muddiness is gone and the highs are much clearer. It seems to be significantly louder, too (perhaps because of its higher sensitivity). Worth every penny!
