You should replace the R100, if you must, with the Stage 800. It's not that big. Quite light for it's size. Just 17 lb.s more than the R100. If that's too much, you're either old, like me, or you have a very bad back, like me; in which case you have empathy.

If you have my empathy, then a Studio 40 is next best. But, don't replace the R100 with it! Chain the Studio to the 100 to get the effects, but with 140 watts and a 10" and a 12"!! Yes, that will be louder than the 100 alone.

"Worth" replacing one amp with another is subjective, and you are the only one able to decide the worth to you.



Yes, the Stage 800 and Studio 40 both can sound as good as the R100. They can also be made to sound much better, or even worse, with other settings! They can handle being pushed. Can you stand being pushed by a Stage 800? Yes, I believe you can dial in or out almost any amount of mud/boom, fart or distortion of any kind, if that's what you're looking for.



I have a Boss GT-6B and a Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live, but I much prefer my Fender B-DEC 30, the granddaddy of the Studio 40, which I find to be much more user friendly and fun to experiment with.

No. Not lurking necessary but I was out of the game for a while during a divorce, then forgot login info and was lazy haha. Reset password yesterday and now I'm back. Plus I've been gigging more lately and that always reignites the flame!

I find this hilarious because it's all a matter of perspective. I find myself feeling anxious about taking something as small as the 800 to practice. Compared to what I used to haul around I feel like I need an extension speaker just to take up some visual space to make me feel like I'm not "under-gunned".

A grenade is quite small but looks are deceiving because it puts out a very large sound........I know you know what I am saying

Just imagine a grenade that can do it's thing continuously over a 3-4 hour gig like the little Rumbles can. Now that's a weapon of musical construction!!

Just a humble Rumble 500 pic from the rehearsal space .. and you know, my bass ... and that damn foot switch which I finally got to work. I'm sorry but I'm not paying Fender their asking price when I can get it for 3/4 of it with a little soldering :)

??? No one I know frowns upon such a question! In fact, it makes me smile. :)

With a 500c the R112 is, technically, a great match with it's 250 watt continuous rating! With your Stage 800, however, it has a danger of being overpowered, if you're not careful. But, with close attention to your settings and listening for signs of stress from the 112, it can probably take quite a bit of the Stage's 400 watts. So, add a second R112 (and flip that impedance switch to the 4 ohms 500 watts side) and crank that sucker!!!

Sound? Yeah, like all the Rumble cabs, it's sweet. Just ask @GonePlaid, and hopefully other R112 owners will chime in, too.

Too bad the R112 was discontinued, but you can still find one here or there from time to time.

Yup. Under my 200c, the 112 adds a 'fullness' I don't know how to describe, but is worth the extra load-in trip at the coupla places I can use it. I don't use it to be louder although it does make use of more watts.

I've seen the argument that mixing speaker size is a bad idea, although I've done it with great sound in the past. I ask because I did find a 112 ext cabinet at a guitar shop this weekend and was tempted. Maybe it's worth a $299 gamble vs $399 for the 210 cab matching my 800 stage?

Take your 800 and a bass to the shop and try it. I've had good luck mixing cabs, but some claim it is sacrilege.

$299 is full retail price. Is it new? They were discontinued some months ago, so I'd expect more of a closeout price. They seem to be great cabs, but wouldn't expect their new scarcity to negate a closeout discount. But IDK.

PS: Don't worry about mixing speaker sizes in the same Rumble line. They all play well together.
