Fender Rumble Club

Inexpensive option would be to grab an Electro-Harmonix Bass Soul Preacher....great light overdrive with a clean blend so you can find a level of drive you like then only add in what you want to your clean tone.
Thanks! I wanted to try that one. I bought the ampeg Scrambler pedal, fooled with it for a week and decided I didn't like it. All the way clean was still dirty and it colored my tone way too much. What about the tech 21 VT bass pedal?

Anyone use a pre-amp with a fender rumble 500?
I love the tone of the combo. I hate the pre-installed overdrive and inability to dial it in. I just want to keep my tone clean and gain a little grit when I drive into my bass...not heavy distortion or tons of overdrive, but a little tube flair. I know it's a solid state amp which won't produce tube tones...I just want to see if anyone has some suggestions on how I can get closer to that sound.
Thanks,
Keep Thump'n

I have a TubeWorks Bluetube pedal that I've used in front of other solid state amps, I'll give it a go in front of the straight rumble V3 setting on my stage 800.
Also have the Hartke drive pedal/DI thing. Will try both.

Hey for any stage 800 users who have the dreaded low B rumble boomy farty sound, go into the menu and choose GLOBAL EQ SETTING. I used LOW CUT 1.
Huge difference. I'm guessing that's essentially giving me a HPF at a fixed frequency and the LOW CUT 2 at a different freq?
Either way, it put a smile on my face, as did renaming my amp in it's brain.

Nope. It is great for bass and they're fairly hard to find. I used to run a rack version over a straight power amp and a sonic maximize. It was a killer tube tone.
Ok. Cool. And, thanks for reminding me! I totally forgot I have a Hartke Bass Attack that I haven't fooled with for years. Well, I just got it out and within minutes I was able to add tons of tube warmth. I can't even believe it. I never would have consider using it with my Rumble. It did not pair well with my Eden WT400, but so far works great with the Fender. Now, to test live application at practice, then our next gig the 22nd. Thanks again.

The Barbershop

Not sure if the link will work, but I run a Barbershop Clone with mine and sounds great. There is other options out there too.

Well, disregard. The hartke just crapped out. I seriously haven't touched it for a solid 5 years and was used when I got it. What I heard today before it crapped out sounded great and now I'm considering the Hartke Bass Attack 2. Any experience with it?

While waiting for the next pedal to arrive, did you try the Rumble's OD with info from this OD Rumble Talk? Most Rumblers find it sufficient for the light grit you seek.

Does anyone use a non-rumble cab with a rumble combo? My plan was to get the 112 extension at some point, now I got to the point, and that’s not in option unless I luck out with a used one. Just curious if anyone has liked the results of something else outside of the rumble line (with their rumble) to maybe broaden my options.
As of yesterday, the GC on Hulen St. In Fort Worth, Texas, had one available. I think it is used, but I don't know for sure. I'm sure they would ship it to you.

Yes! I have a rumble 500 combo and it pairs very well with my Ashdown ABM 210. I don't have a pic with the rumble on top but here's the cab...
