Fender Rumble Club

What's all this talk of channels? Overdrive is a Rumble button, somewhat similar to the Bright, Contour and Vintage buttons. It's not like you can save different EQ settings with different buttons engaged. (You need the Stage or Studio to do that with presets.)

@Kipp Harrington, do you mean engaging the Overdrive reduces the volume of the low frequencies? I ask, because I keep my Overdrive engaged and adjust it between warmth and grit for different songs. I also adjusted Bass, Mids and Treble fairly often, too, though. That is, until I got my Studio 40. So, I haven't noticed the loss of low end you speak of. But, according to the manual, it seems that the Level knob should be used to compensate for the volume difference, no?

Hey G-Dog... that goes to show you how much I have to learn about amps!

All I know, is that when I engage the Drive feature, it sucks out some low end. So when I want to get that little bit of grind going on, I am sacrificing low end.

If I go through my OCD pedal, it maintains the “bottom”. Sounds great without having to adjust EQ settings.

In case You were wondering, this is what an r100c's guts look like:

I ordered a Rumble Stage 800 2x10 yesterday and should arrive Wednesday. Don't add me to the club until I take pics and post. Very excited about this amp. This is my first new bass amp in over a decade. Last new bass amp was Line 6 Low Down Pro 300 in 2007... and I can't believe this amp is no longer in production. Line 6 did a great job with this amp, tons of great features (Compression is amazing)... and it moves a lot of air for 1x15 combo, extremely underrated amp, IMHO. Can't wait to compare Rumble combo with Line 6 Low Down combo!

Agreed that it's not a 'channel' as such. It(to me)is just an easy way to refer to it, rather than saying "o/d circuitry" or whatever. Also, in our band-since we don't use a set list-it's call the tune, click it, and go. No time to go fool with EQ settings, 'cept tone on the bass. Gotta live with what I set up b4 the first song, especially 'cos I do the(verbal)song introductions.

I know what you mean. I use the vintage button to bring the bottom back with the drive but that my not be much use if you use the vintage on the clean channel as well!
Good point. I usually play all the time with the Vintage button on. It still doesn’t seem to make up for that low frequency drop. Other than that, I really like my Rumble!

Try not using the vintage with the clean channel, set the eq and the then engage the drive with the vintage. The drive volume has to be considerable higher to balance the two sounds as well.
I do 9o'clock clean gain and point the drive level knob towards the LED, so about 10:30?

I reckon OCD's sound fantastic on bass though. What settings do you use on the pedal?

So another gig Sat night with my Stage 800 and 210 ext cab. I played a huge banquet hall at a country club for a private Bday event. So we had our full PA. Subs and the works. Great sounding room. However it absolutely soaked up the low end. The Stage does not have a “low mid” dedicated control. Can you change the midrange center freq? If not anyone know what it is? With as many different venues as I play I’m gonna have a boomy room that I will need to play in those nice low mids at some point to replace the lower bass frequencies. The Global EQ may handle some of this but I’d love to move the mid point if that’s possible. I’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what this amp can do so thanks for any help.

Hey everyone! Thinking of becoming a member but not really sure which route to go. I was going to get a rumble 800 head with the 1k watt 4x10 but then stumbled across the rumble stage 800. All of the additional features on the stage seem tantalizing but wanted to ask those of you with hands on experience with that particular amp how you have been liking it.

I play funk/soul/rock and am looking to start gigging asap. The modeling isn't what interests me most necessarily, morseo the built in effects so I don't have to buy a compressor or other random pedals that might take my fancy.

Also, the 2x10's in the stage 800 i'm assuming are likely only receiving 350-400 of the full 800 watts correct?

I DEFINITELY don't want to have to add a second cab if avoidable to get appropriate volume levels at bar gigs or medium sized venues (ie local stuff, we have some larger venues/theatres in St. Charles IL)

Any advice on which way to go?

Just came from a very successful gig with my country/bluegrass band, and I’ve been trying out some new tone settings. I set it at:
G-12, B-9, LM-12, HM-12, T-2, M-12. All shape filters off.

It sounded so good! I started this band recently, and replaced an upright player. I set my amp very dull and thumpy. Cut some treble, contour and/or vintage on. (Not that I was trying to emulate an upright tone, but I didn’t want to sound too electric, too... stanky) but as i grow more comfortable, I’ve been experimenting with new tones.

I’m very excited to try these settings out with my rock & blues band. Rumble on!

I've been experimenting with vintage out/off. Results aren't in yet, but looking promising.

Hey, there, my bass cuzzin, finny! Welcome.

So, yer lookin' fer a 800 watt Rumble, eh? Well, the Stage modeling amp and the 800 HD head are your 2 choices. If you've never played a modeling amp, checkout the Stage & Studio manual to see if it speaks to you. It is all modeling, all the time, but very easy to switch between the 100 stock preset voices; especially with the included footswitch. And yes, it can send "only" up to 400 watts to the internal speakers. The matching 210 cabinet is recommended to reach up to 800 watts. And it can even take a second 8 ohm cab for maximum SPL!

But, if modelng is not for you at this time, the Rumble 800 HD is yer huckleberry. The normal Rumble preamp with the most power available behind it. Plus a Pre/Post switch on the XLR Out and Speakon speaker connectors that other Rumbles don't have. 400 watts at 8 ohms, 800 watts at 4 ohms, and 800 watts at 2.67 & 2 ohms! The lightweight 210 cabs are also recommended for this monster head.

That's the introduction. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

OutSTANDING, Big Al! Now, ... lemme get this straight; you started this band with an upright bass player, then replaced them with, uh, yourself on electric bass?!? Hmmm, I sense a back story. But, OK, then.

That's a good looking band! What's the lady got hanging around her neck, an autoharp? And, you've probably said, but I don't recall, what do you have for percussion, a cajon? I assume a single R100c is sufficient for this band? (Think I see it there, in the blue zone, by your right leg.) Beautious!

jmon, I don't see in the manual that you can change the frequency of the Mid knob, but it looks like the Global EQ is the intended method for your need.

You might ask this in the Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 thread. I know this has been discussed there, but maybe someone will have a different approach.

Ok, I can see that was confusing!
What I meant was “I started playing with this bluegrass band recently. I replaced a bass player who played the upright.” The legend goes....

I hooked up with my rock/blues band (The Poorboys) about 2 years ago. That’s the band that uses the cajon, and I also use my 100c for that band. It is plenty (for either band) as I always have PA option when needed. I only use my 2x100c on the rare occasion he brings the drums (3x in the past year)

The bandleader for the Poorboys also runs a bluegrass band (Grassanova.) this summer, he calls me up, says he’s sick of his bass player, wants me to take over. so I agreed and it’s been a ton of fun and a great learning experience. Having the same BL for two bands eliminates gig and rehearsal conflicts; Pretty cool deal, IDK if I could handle 2 bands otherwise.

that’s a mini cajon she’s playing. Sounds great and super portable!

the main point of my post was exploring tones with vintage off (to which I have been totally addicted!) Favorable results so far, and seems to be squashing the urge to get a different brand of amp.

so that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it! :woot:
