Fender Rumble Club

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if it's possible to power the speakers

Hey y'all, I'm looking for the discussion about using the 800 head with the impedance switch set to 2ohms but with a 4 or 8 ohm load, specifically, I understand that the peak output is limited when doing this and am trying to find the output wattage when this happens. Thanks for helping me find that! (I've already tried to look through the wiki and used Google, but wasn't successful yet.)
Someone(not me)will know the answer.

Sorry for the slow reply John, but neither my Rumble 100 combo nor my Rumble 800 head crackle when I use the zero-overdrive-mute trick. I mean, you're sure it was on zero and not simply near zero, right? Also, I tried both methods of engaging the overdrive, using the button and using a footswitch, both amps were silent when plugging/unplugging my (18-volt and 9-volt active) basses. I didn't try it with a passive bass, but can't imagine how that could make it worse.

Oh... and you're not shorting the tip of the jack (to the sleeve) with your fingers either, right?

Anyway, I hope you've got it sorted out by now.

Hiya Chupacerveza.

Thx for checking yours out for me. I appreciate it.

Had a gig tonight and tried it again...with the same result. In order to not get a crack, I have to unplug the cable and then the bass. If I just unplug the bass, I get a crack.

And yes the mute button was on and both knobs were at zero. And I wasn’t shorting the tip.

Anyways, it’s not a big deal. I know how to do it so it doesn’t crack. That’s the important part. Just weird that mine does it and the others don’t...

Well gang, I FINALLY got to test out my HPF in one of the boomy winery rooms we play.

I played one set with the HPF, EQ flat. HPF dial set to “until I can hear it kick in, then dial it back a little.” The next set I shut it off, set EQ to: B 9:00, (LM, HM, T @ 12) Important note: Both sets vintage off, where I have used vintage “on” in this room in the past.

Set 1 was definitely less boomy. Warm and rich, almost like a reggae tone with a little more top end. Set 2 was also less boomy (than previous gigs) with clarity, punch and grind. I think cutting the bass lets the mids come through...
Maybe it’s because I wanted it to, but I almost think set 2 sounded better. Maybe it’s because I’m just used to Those settings, and it just sounded “normal” again. I’ve had reservations about the extra chords and power supply anyway. :bag:

so I didn’t find the HPF to be a magic carpet ride. But it’s in my tool box now if I ever need it for a different scenario!

PS: vintage off has been a smashing success! I’m hooked! I just add a touch more gain to make up for the volume drop

PPS: I love the OD mute! Use it every gig :D

I would want to try it with both the vintage button AND the HPF....

The amount of variations is dizzying. Not saying I won’t play around with it, but the whole point of me getting the HPF was to beat boom in this room (and those like it.) and I feel like I did it with tweaking the Rumble settings alone. I value simplicity- p bass + rumble, plug n play baby! :D

Well, my Rumble Friends, through an interesting turn of events, I have ended up Rumble-less.
I'm afraid I must relinquish my number.

Awww, I'm sorry to hear that, A-a-ron. :woot: But, don't worry, it could just be a temporary condition. You could land on your feet with another Rumble before you know it! Tell us about the interesting turn of events!

At any rate, Rumble numbers are unrelinquishable, non-refundable, irrevocable and not void even where prohibited! Consider them tattooed into your soul! Once a Rumbler, always a Rumbler. It is the Hotel California of TB clubs: "You can check-in anytime you like, but you can never leave."

So, don't be a stranger. Drop us a line, now and then! ;)

... dit ... dit, dit dit ... dit ... dit, dit dit, dit, ... dit, dit ... dit ...
We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for this breaking newsflash!

The following communique has been intercepted and, after a thorough security vetting, is released for public consideration:

"A question for the Rumble Club to ponder: So what's in store for Fender at Winter NAMM 2020?

[Many bassists] don't pay much attention to guitar amps except when Fender comes out with new groundbreaking technology: G-Dec; Mustang, and now Tone Master. [Bassists] got the B-Dec, Bronco, and now Stage & Studio. The guitar amps always came first.

The Invalid Link Removed emulate/mimic vacuum tube behavior better than anything and [are] getting rave reviews. They are spendy too like a real tube Deluxe or Twin. [But without the weight or maintenance costs of real tube amps!]

Is there a Tone Master Bassman or Studio Bass in the near Fender future?"

Authorities have attributed this message to "a particularly astute industry observer" with often uncanny insights into new developments. The source will, however, remain anonymous at this time. *cough, Linnin, cough, cough* That is all.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming, already in progress. ... dit ... dit, dit dit ... dit ... dit, dit dit, dit, ... dit, dit ... dit ...

I'm continuing the vintage off experiment and for my normal band, it's working fine. I, too, add a little more gain than usual and have LM and HM @ 2ish. For the outdoor Sunday jam, I may hafta use V-on, but didn't do that gig today. Maybe next week. The OD mute is pretty much permanent.

Thanks again G-Dog! I appreciate you sir.

After playing through the "modified" 4x8, unfortunately I'm going to return it.

#1, its about 4.5 lbs heavier than the original cab design with neo's.
#2, I really would like an 8ohm cab to pair with my 8ohm 112.
#3, Im not digging the tone/sound. To my layman's ears it just sounds boxy and thin with the replacement drivers :(.

I think I could have gotten over #1 and #2 if #3 would have been more in my wheel house.

Does anyone know where I can get the original part number for the OEM speakers to the Rumble 2x8 Cab?
