Fender Rumble Club

Make you a deal, I will add a Rumble 210 cab now if one gets donated to me... I sure wouldn't refuse one! I'm already way over my head skill to gear ratio wise... I mean really, the 500 combo is a heck of an amp to hold the root down with some fills...

Hi Folks,

I am thinking about a Rumble 200 or 500, among a few other amp options. I got to play a 200 in the store and liked both the sound and the power. The bottom of my pants were flapping a little bit- always a good sign. :) I definitely liked the sound of the 200 more than the Ampeg equivalent 1x15 which, to my ears, seemed much more colored. Some people do love that but it wasn’t my thing.

I have not been able to play a 500 yet. (They are in short supply, I know.) Reading here, whenever anyone asks about a 200 versus a 500, everyone says to get the 500. More output for not much more cash. OK by me if the tone does not change too much. (By the way and FYI, it seems as though all the big online retailers have bumped up the 500 price from $500 to $550.) Some quick questions...

-Are there any major tone differences between the 1x15” 200 and the 2x10” 500, other than the 500 being louder?

-How does the 500 (or the 200, for that matter) do with the low B of a 5 string bass?

-How do you get the grill cover off? To tighten down all the screws, which I have read here may need some attention upon receipt. In the photos I am not seeing any grill screws. Does it just pop off if you wedge in a screw driver or something?

Thanks!
Hi JonW! Dave gave you some good answers.

Ask yourself how much amp do you really need? Is the Rumble 200 plenty? If it is, Bingo-Zingo, that's your huckleberry!

For a 5-string more power is always a better choice just because lower notes need more of it. Are you playing out? How much air do you need to move? Do you need 4x10's or 2x15's? Maybe a pair of the new Rumble 112 cabs with the Rumble 500 head?

Also what is your budget?

Got my 210 delivered, crappy phone pic attached. One of my little dude's had to jam on it, so i busted out the bronco for him. Love the locking system with the head...I'll be able to tilt back the mini stack tonight if it's too boomy on the floor, and it looks sharp. Hey Linnin, know if Fender will be offering any covers for this line of cabs?

Sweet!
Fender never has offered covers for their Rumble line, and it's high time they start. ;) I've wanted some ballistic nylon dust covers for some time, but haven't had the $100+ to spare.

Yeah thats the 500. Got my American P and American J at the bottom custom painted Mexican P and my Chinese Dimension at the top. I also have a V2 Rumble 350 head and the V2 410 cab not in the picture. I love me some fender.

Need a family photo with the V2 stuff as well!

I got a bonus at work, so I went down to GC and ordered a 210 cab to go with the 500 combo that I had on backorder.

I got the 15% President's Day discount, so I got the cab for $297.49 + free shipping vs $349.99.

Since my backordered combo had not shipped and was not supposed to ship until Tuesday when they checked it, I asked for the discount on it, too.

The manager gave it to me, so I got it for $467. 49 w/free shipping vs the $549.99

So, I got both for $764.98 vs $899.98, a savings of $135. I feel pretty good about GC right now. ;)

They told me that both were now in stock and would ship on Tuesday.
