Fender Rumble Club

[Old P Bass Guy]

Since it’s Friday and my boss had a good meeting with VP in the morning, I got to go Happy Hour and left work earlier than usual. Got home, ate dinner, and finished the isolation riser.

Materials used are a set of IsoAcoustics Stage 1 isolation pads (4 pcs), and a 3/4” unfinished pine (?) shelf from Ikea. I measured the Rumble 500C has a footprint of about 19” X 14”. This $7 solid wood shelf (17x20) from Ikea Ivar collection measures 16-1/2” X 19-5/8” with rails along the shorter sides. So my plan was to use Dremel Ultra Saw and cut off both shelving rails to make it about 14”. This would make the 3/4” board just slightly larger than Rumble 500C footprint.

Coincidentally, Dremel Ultra Saw can only cut through 3/4” max, and Ikea shelf is exactly 3/4” thick!

Some measuring, clamping, careful first-time circular sawing, dust blowing, sanding, marking, drilling, and screwing later... There goes my isolation riser for Rumble 500C. I think it looks okay. At least size wise.

Now the question is, do I paint the wood board black? Or leave it raw pinewood without any finishing? What do you guys suggest?

Two or three coats of clear Varithane. U may want to use a light stain first. Maybe a grey stain.

Mine is the same most of the time, except my bass EQ is straight up at noon. But, I find that bit extra of low end helps when I'm using a pick, which I do most of the time. With just fingers, I set it as you do.

Feel free to view and print for trying out at your leisure. When you find your own sweet, or raunchy, preferred tone(s), please also feel free to enter it/them there for others to try!

Haha! It was inspired by the “Rumble flat” setting. To my ears, I think the 10/2/2/10 has a little more warmth and presence (more low mid and treble.) and my eyes like the visual symmetry

I agree with the "symmetry" thing, but I usually face the audience.

Band has been exploring (amplified) acoustic sets. The normal rig is overkill for that, and I've been wanting something with a bit of punch but light and portable for jam sessions anyway. Haven't given it more than a living room shake down with settings at noon yet, but I am diggin it so far! Lawd this thing is light!

I use mine as a rehearsal amp with a drum set and it’s plenty loud! Enjoy

I like the isolation board, but immediately thought, ’why not just replace the stock feet...’. Sure enough, the IsoAcoustics site shows just that as an option. What swayed you to a board vs just replacing the feet? I have two combos, so that might be a consideration.

Yeah, like you said, a separate board is easier to pair with different amps as needed. I have an extension cab, but rehearsal and such never requires extension. So if I “hard” installed those isolation pads to the combo, what if I need to use extension underneath for a show...

Besides, I have a small stack of Tech 21 PEDD which also happens to be 14” deep (although only 17” or so wide). This isolation board can then accommodate that as well when I want to use Line 6 HX Stomp instead with bass or guitar. Additionally, my H&K Geandmeister Deluxe 40 rig 212 cab can also be paired.
