Fender Rumble Club

Some of you made know I recently posted my new purchase yesterday (new member #1177), fender rumble 800 head. Enjoyed tinkering with all the tonal options and with help from you guys found a few sweet spots that suits my taste best. Only to discover a deep buzz from the 410 speakers when punching out lower notes. Bass knob is only set around 10 o'clock. Below 8 is not noticed as much. Can the cab not handle it? Do I upgrade? My Hartke 410XL has been a close companion for many of years. What to do... Do I choose the rumble or bassman?

Ready to Rumble seaside in Stuart Florida! Had to keep Kenny home, way too windy!

Looks beautiful (the water, the bass, the amps).

Alanloomis1980, I tried your 10/2/2/10 settings on my Rumble 40 last night in a very noisy venue, and it worked well. Bass not too boomy, treble not too harsh, good definition throughout. I had both the vintage and contour buttons on (because I need to, to tame my Ibanez Mikrobass). I'll try the same settings without the vintage and contour buttons engaged sometime, when using a different bass. Thanks for posting those.

Happy Fender Friday!

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to today's installment of

Fender Rumble Club Trivia!

[cue gameshow musical score]

Today's Fender Rumble Club Trivia clue, for one shmillion shmackeroons, is:

"The model and owner of this early Fender Rumble V3."
(Bonus for where and when this was posted on the innerwebs.)

:bassist:

Decisions of the judges are final. Entries not valid where void or prohibited. Please remember to phrase your answer in the form of a question! Answers not so formed will be null, void and pointless, not unlike the so-called prizes, which are for grins and giggles only, and are intended for the sole enjoyment of our audience only and not to be copied, borrowed, purloined nor otherwise appropriated nor exhibited in any manner unbecoming of the owners, shareholders, investors and their successors and assigns, be it foreign or domestic, as in: "no place like home", even if the heels of ruby slippers be clicked, or not. This shall in no way compel, contract, bind or enfetter said "Club" nor any members, visitors, fans or detractors of such nor ever enure to the benefit of anyone, at any place, or at any time. Forever and ever, amen. Copyrights belong to their respective owners and are not used with permission, nor malice aforethought, nor any real, or imagined, thought at all, for that matter. Such matter being of no matter, substance, or intelligence in life or limb, being pure superfluousness by all accounts.

OMG! Is the desire for one shmillion shmackeroons not what it used to be? Inflation?

Or is the clue too hard? Nobody knows how to use Google to find a innerwebs photo? (I don't. Was hoping the winner would educate us/me.)

Anyone? Anyone? Beuhler? . . . .
.

Ok. Alright. Perhaps another clue is in order. The photo is from our very own Rumble Club, this very thread. There now. We should have a winner any moment now. ;)

Sorry to hear of your close companion's illness, Johnny. Perhaps a tech exam is in order and, hopefully, a small repair might be the least costly path.

However, if a new cab does seem neccessary I would recommend the Rumble 210 as the first choice. Same speakers as in the Rumble Stage 800, which is as powerful as your 800 HD, and lighter and more portable than any 410. But, if you prefer a 410, the Rumble would be the most bang for the buck, unless, of course, you prefer the Neos of the Bassman.

Hope this helps.

just wondering? If the Rumble 10’s now handle 200 watts each. Surely Fender could be making a small 1x10 200 combo.

Will I lose any sound quality or room volume going with the rumble 210 then 410? Leaning towards the rumble 410. The low price is what concerns me alittle. Should it?

I've been very happy putting my Rumble head on top of my Bassman cabs...just don't get hung up on the price diff.

Well, it's reasonable to expect that a 410 could sound a bit fuller than a 210 in general, though the Rumble 210 can get surprisingly deep and rich! Technically, at the same power, the 410 and 210 should be equivalent in volume, but the 410 would certainly give more SPL. However, I truly believe that the best modern 410 is two vertically stacked 210s, which achieves much better dispersion than the traditional 410 and benefits from the vertical array acoustic coupling enhancement (even if slightly staggered vertically). And, of course, the second 210 opens up another 400W of headroom from your Rumble 800 HD, which would feel positively seismic! The similar price of the two cabs reflects the popularity price increases that the 210s have received over the 410s.

But, you'd really have to hear them for yourself to know what your own ears, and other resonant cavities, tell you. Many GCs, SAs, or other music stores stock some Rumbles that they'd be glad for you to audition.

Ok guys. I really need some help with this!
I am going to sell some of my guitar equipment and I am really interested in getting a Mesa Subway 115 to go with my Rumble 500 head. I have Rumble 410 and 115 cabs. I want to pair the Rumble 115 with a Mesa Subway 115 since they're both such lightweight cabs (they virtually weigh the same... the Subway is actually a pound lighter). Has anyone paired these two cabs? If not... thoughts? Thanks!

How high is the gain knob? Active pickups or any pedals boosting bass?

Not exactly sure what that could be. Does it occur at low volumes also? Check your speaker grill to make sure it's snug. Do you have a HPF in your chain? If not, that would be the next purchase I would consider. Not terribly expensive and will tame sub sonic lows that can damage/beat up drivers.

A Rumble 410 (500W RMS @ ohms) will have a better chance of handling the full power (400W @ 8ohms) from your Rumble 800HD than your Hartke.
