Fender Rumble Club

Been staring at my bass from over the bed all day today with zero motivation to play it or to study theory. Have had a splitting headache all day, tomorrow I will be busy with little chance to play/practice... and so the days pass with me not having the time/motivation to pick up the instrument and dive into it.

Then I feel guilty for not mustering up the energy to practice while being in pain, then I feel like I never practice enough and I get myself down by looking at these other players who just slay it on the instrument and I think to myself "When will I ever get anywhere on this thing?".

It just makes me so sad.
I used to practice for a few hours a day, now I don't feel like doing it at all or I do it for 5-10 minutes and put her down again.

Sorry fellow rumblers, just rambling (rumbling? I don't know if that's a thing here :))
Seasonal depression, perhaps? Mine is kicking in big time. All I want to do is sleep.

Happens to all of us at times. Don’t be too hard on yourself for not practicing enough - after all, it’s supposed to be fun. It’ll come back to you.

I feel ya, too, Kat. And I can't even claim any physical cause as I'm healthier than in past years!

I've had a marathon case of the blues ever since The 'Rona dried up all my gigs and jams. Add to that the passing of a couple of very close relatives from non-covid conditions, though certainly aggravated by distancing, isolation and lockdowns. And now we're recovering from not one, but two hurricanes! It has really made me question a lot of things and seek new perspectives.

However, I do feel my old, underlying optimism. I may not feel like playing guitar or bass, though I secretly hope for a irresistible call that can talk me into a special benefit gig, or something. I know that, at some point, someday, I will feel that expressive need to play and sing. After all, I've had much longer dry spells while raising my babies. This, too shall pass. And I'm sure the sun will shine again on my music. 'Til then, I will relish the down time until, once again, the sleeper shall awaken. So, shall we all . . . .

Rumble On!

I suffered 38 long years from a devastating headache (never Went away) day and night 24/7. My wife bought an A Kangen Ionizing machine. 30 days later I was up and back to work. Alkaline water may help you. Sorry for your pain.

I set myself a challenge, to learn some songs that my practical mind claims I'll never be able to play, and am working on those. If I go more than a few days without practicing, I get PO'd because I know I'm losing ground, and that helps me get back into the groove. I haven't mastered the songs yet, but I have some parts down, a couple even at speed.
I have no idea whether I'll ever get to use these in a band setting, but just to be able to play them will feel soooo good.

Been a couple years. Got put through the wringer and back. Certainly not going to try to catch up on 2 years of posts and probably won't be a "regular" again, but I buzzed through the the last month or sos posts. Saw a few things I wanted to comment on but didn't hit the quote links.

The cab SIM in my opinion is NOT on the headphones, I have to defeat my bright switch and roll the treble back when I am using distortion or else it sounds the kind of ass like leaving the tweeter on. The built in overdrive seems to be voiced to where it is not as offensive with the tweeter or headphones, but any other dirt, and yeah, it sounds like any other non simulated output. So I just turn off the bright, and roll back the highs a bit and just deal with it.

It makes sense because in order to have full range of the aux input into the phones, the cab SIM would have to placed on the instrument signal only, and I think it just made sense at the rumble price point to just put it on the DI.

And 112s, I see all the 112 love. I miss mine, I bought it off a club member in 2016, and lost it along with most of my possessions in a series of storage break ins while I was homeless. I don't have the ser number handy but I remember it being extremely low, maybe someone here got it? It was stolen mid 2019 if I remember correctly, as the larger items, cabs and racks weren't taken till the later break ins. It was a series of them and I was not in a position to save the rest after each break in because I was living in my van, because I got kicked out of the marina I had been living on my boat in for 5 years and there was no other way to afford a place to live on disability, other than sharing a room with some junkie in a group home for the same price as my monthly slip fee. And I chose to suffer in my van for 18 months. I'm in an apartment now.

It is funny how things work though, I had my 200 in a pawn shop, and a handful of basses and a couple guitars as well, and the forced low ball sale of my boat to the marina was at least enough to get them out so I would have at least a minimum to start over with. My other gear required interests were total losses though as I cannot afford to replace the stuff, but I did spend my stimulus and some of the money saved while being homeless on astronomy gear and a few things I needed for bass and guitar.

I stumbled on a GC listing for a rumble 2x10 100watt cab with no picture added yet, for $169, so I sent them an email asking if it was the old rumble 100 210 combo, or the v3 cab. The reply came with "yes it is a cab and yes it is 100w" with pictures clearly showing it as a 350w v3 210, so I called up and got it. Tax and shipping brought it to almost $230, but it was still well worth it.

I was very happy with the 200c 112 rig as they played very nicely together. With this rig I feel I am pushing more lows, but the 210 has less mids than the 112 or a 115 (another consideration if a $150 used one had popped up locally).

Of course I like that the cabs are a dimensional and cosmetic match, and that the 210 cab makes the 15 sit higher thus dispersing the mids a little better than the shorter 112.

Got into a band about a month ago so I got a chance to try it out at rehearsal level, and this has lots on tap. Not a particularly loud band though, not like drop C SOAD tribute I was in before.

After the audition and 2nd time, I have just been bringing the combo only, as it is more than enough and makes one less box to lug around.

Picked up that blue peavey raptor custom since all but 2 of my guitars were stolen and one of the survivors is a short scale. The small amp is a friend's traynor reverbmate 30 (worst reverb ever but looks cool sitting there). Basses are a peavey foundation "fretless" I picked up recently and my 91 peavey fury that was protected in a pawn shop like my 200. I have since swapped necks with another foundation, full stories on U.S. Peavey club

OMG, uber!!! :woot: That is, indeed, quite the wringer you've been through! So glad to hear that you made it back and in such good spirits, too! Kudos on your exceptional resilience, brother. May your recovery continue unabated. And you're obviously still feeling the Rumble Love!

Well, according to the published design block diagram in the owner's manual, you're half right. The 40-500 Rumbles actually have two (2) cab sims! One specifically for the line out and another specifically for only the instrument signal going to the headphones, and not on the aux in!

Sorry for your losses and living situation in the past. I know, I have been through what you have experienced. Homeless with my kids, lived on a boat for 2.5 years until told to leave. All with a spinal cord injury. Everything eventually turned around. It took a long time. I am glad you are doing better. Best of luck.

:wideyed: Wow! Another tale of triumph of the human spirit! Good on ya, EatSy! Thanks for sharing.

Another reason for courtesy and consideration to those around us. Sure, we all have our trials and tribulations, more or less. But we may never really know the depths another has gone through, or may still be working through, that would humble us if we understood. For just as we think we've got it rough, there are always others much worse off, and we don't always know who they are or when we encounter them. Thus the need for constant civility.

Yet we Rumble On, . . . and not just in the musical sense! :)

You never know what kind of day other people around you are having and what impact your smile and kind word to them might have to make their day a better one.

Not a member, but maybe soon, if I can get a response to a simple question:

Which do you prefer for a 5 string, the Rumble 200 or 500? I don’t subscribe to the “bigger speaker = lower extension” thing. I’ve heard 10s that outperform 15s in low end extension.

I won’t be gigging any time soon, so it’s just for home use, but I want a good low B.

Impulse bought an open-box Rumble 500 from the GC website, so I’ll be joining soon with my thoughts on the amp for a 5 string player.

Congratulations! My main rig is a v3 Rumble 500 combo and it has been my amp of choice from backing an acoustic guitarist/singer to playing in a 6-piece Classic Rock band. I play 2 5-string basses and a 4-string P Bass. The amp handles the low B string very well.

All three of my main player basses are strung BEAD 'cause I, too, resonate with a good low B. In that regard my 10" Rumble Studio 40 does a great job for home practice and small or acoustic jams & gigs! (And I believe the regular Rumble 40 would, too.) When that's not enough power I go to my 2x10" Rumble 500 combo, which was the first 10" bass speakers to make a believer outta me that "size doesn't matter, its what you do with it". And the Rumbles do it good!

To be fair though, plenty of Rumblers here swear by their 15" Rumble 200 combos. And I certainly can't dispute that, since I've never even heard one. But, I was a 15" bass speaker devotee for 45 years and, therefore, completely understand the attraction. I even have a Bassman 500 head with a Bassman 115 neo cab (which I occasionally connect to the Rumble 500!) and can truthfully attest that the 2x10" compares quite favorably with that neo 1x15".

I also have no doubt that, with proper internal acoustic lining added, the 12" Rumble 100 can provide a good low B, as well. Therefore, I'd recommend buying the most powerful Rumble combo you can afford, from the 40s to the 500, even the Stage 800, and don't sweat the speaker sizes. See the Rumble V3 Summary Info chart on the Rumble Club Wiki page for quick comparisons of features and prices.

My 200c is one the best amps I’ve ever owned. That’s coming from an SVT and many other high end amps. Love my amp. Happy for you!
Not an SVT but Trace Elliot stack & a big Ashdown rig, & other big-ish setups.
Give me the Rumble 200C and a Boss TU-3 Tuner, Am.Std Precision or Peavey Foundation = all I need .

Hey everyone, it’s definitely been a minute, how is everyone doing? I’m still rocking the Stage 800, and my band actually has a gig at the end of the month for Halloween, I may have a video or two to share from it! Currently my favourite preset is the SVT, almost makes me wish I bought an Ampeg fridge and amp but i know I could never move the dang thing. Gain and volume at 5.5, bass 3/4 full, Mids slightly scooped and the mid frequency selected, treble moved to like 6.0 for a little bit of pick bite. Still using a precision bass and roundwounds. Makes for a good girthy dirty tone. Our band is very grunge/punk sounding, main influences being local H and Nirvana. Most of our stuff we perform is original as well! Anyways I thought I’d give everyone a little update, I’ve been quiet on the forum for a while!!
