Fender Rumble Club

Ok, so this morning I plugged my gigging bass in and got a sound that makes me happy thus reducing the stress of tonight. Gain = 0, Bass = 11 oclock, Lowmid = 11:30, Highmid = 12:30, Treble = 2:30, Master 10:00.
On Jazz Bass slight plus in Bass and Treble. Mid at detent. Volume slightly less than full. Sounds great with fingers, a bit too bright (too much treble) with pick. No bass in a box. So I have a start point. Note this is with the amp off the ground as it will be at the gig. OH BOY!

Try to get a listen to your amp from as far as your longest cable reaches. What you hear directly in front of the amp is not the same thing the audience hears.

So during tonight's gig the settings above were good for the first set but as things got louder my bass was too thin sounding. So backed off the treble to 1 oclock on the amp. backed off to detent on Jazz Bass and upped the bass. That did the trick. Tomorrow will be in a larger room with no one to tell us to turn down.

Hi, guys!

I'm looking for your advice regarding your experience with Rumble amps.

At the moment I'm looking to upgrade my bass amp. Even though I'm not gigging at the moment, I believe it's better to have an amp ready for it when the time comes. So far, I've been quite interested in Fender Rumble V3 series, they're reasonably priced, have a good tone for my needs, are light and do not need much space.

I've narrowed my picks to these three options:

1. Fender Rumble 500 V3 Combo
2. Fender Rumble 800 (head) + Fender Rumble 210 cab
3. Fender Rumble 800 (head) + Fender Rumble 115 cab

I've tried the combo, and I liked it, also that'd be the less expensive option. I have not tried the head + cab combinations yet (looking to make an appointment with a nearby music store this weekend, you know, covid measures and some shops only work with an appointment).

Which would you recommend? Any other brands or amps I should look at? Some specifics I should test on these items? I don't really play with loud bands, but I like having the extra head room available. Mostly I play jazz standards and with not much tapping nor slapping; sometimes I end up playing some hard rock/alternative with a pick.

Thanks in advance!
The 500 Combo is a great amp. I have no experience with the 800, but I have gigged a lot with the 500 combo. I also added a 2x10 extension cab and it is good for anywhere you might gig. The extension cab really fills out the sound.

Looks like I finally made it to this club. I've played a few Rumbles at GC over the last 2 years and like what I heard. My Ampeg is biting the dust so I finally had an excuse to splurge on a Rumble. I went with the 40 for bedroom practice. I hope it sounds good with my bass. I had to use the available short scales at GC and didn't try it out with my bass. I'm sure I'll be satisifed anyways.

I would be very surprised if you were not satisfied ;). I love my Studio 40!

You'll definitely wanna peruse the Rumble Club Wiki for hints on EQing, etc. It's not gonna be anything like your 'Peg.

Great, justy! Just post a pic of your Rumble and I'll get you an official Club membership number.

I just joined the club with a used Rumble 75. It’s heavy and bulky. I knew that going in. I’m a basement player, so I won’t be moving it much. I’ve just started playing my Korean Squier p-bass through it. It’s plenty loud and I think it sounds pretty good.

That's great, Tape! The 75 is a V2. Let's make your membership official. You post a photo of your Rumble while I go find the membership roll book and process your application. We'll even waive the fees & dues for you! ;)
