Fender Rumble Club

Indeed, but whatever gets the job done!

Speaking of! I bought a fretless neck made of neutronium. I'm gonna need to redo this bass one day when I get access to a drill press but I thought y'all might want to have a laugh.

Dat pocket gap!:jawdrop:

That's what I get for trying to drill the hardest substance in the universe on my floor. You could practically fit a whole guitar in there!:roflmao:

The best part? It's a perfectly intonated 34.25" scale fretless P bass.

Also tort, abalone, and white pearl all on one maple board...
I saw those necks real cheap and loved them but was worried about how good they would be. So...how is it?

Pretty great. There wasn't any predrilled holes besides the tuners, no nut and not frets to screw up either. The inlay work is beautiful and it feels and looks like your standard glossy P bass neck. I'm not digging the gloss on the back though, I suspect that's going to get sanded back a bit one day.

But seriously they didn't use hard rock maple they just used hard rock to make it. I wouldn't do this again without access to a drill press. This was a triumph of luck over poor choices.

It's funny because I was dreaming tonight of this neck you got. I kid you not. Excepttthat the design on the inlays was off so I was really mad at you that you've bought it like that :roflmao:

Took the new R100 for a tryout at practice last night, we were at minimal setup and low volume. Sounded great for about 20 minutes, then quit. Seemed to lose the mid section of the tone stack, it must have been a defective amp because my R40 would have been fine last night. Luckily our practice space is close by and I ran home and grabbed the Ampeg with minimal delay.

While the 100 was OK, it would be pushing it for regular practices. Since I have to send it back anyway I've got a few options. I looked at the R200 and the R500 combos and while they are enticing, I think the best bang for my buck would be to kick in $100 and pick up an Ampeg BA210 v2 (450w 2x10). The BA's are being replaced by the Rocket series, so the timing is good. That will let me upgrade my stage rig, and I'll have to keep lugging the 115 to practices.

I know, you guys hauling the full cabs are going "wahhhh..." These days, I'd rather get my workout at the gym :hyper:.

Oh wow. I finally set myself up for recording today since I have the weekend off and guess what? For some reason Reaper doesn't let me monitor myself anymore and I have NO idea why. Just stopped working all of a sudden and I haven't changed a thing. I haven't even opened it up in the past two days. What the heck.

What do I do?! I've been doodling with it, changing devices and everything and nothing helps. Come on :(

Greetings from Austin, Texas!

I just picked up a Rumble 500 this week to replace an Acoustic B600HD head and Markbass New York 121 cab. It joins a Rumble 25 that has seen me through the last few years as a practice amp. I love the sound of the smaller Rumble and the 500 has exceeded expectations too. It is great that the Rumble 500 sounds good at bedroom volumes as well as floor shaking.

Great to find this club and read the threads about extension cabs ( if that is ever necessary ).

A bit about me: I've been playing bass for nearly thirty years and finally settled on short scale about eight years ago because they are easier to play albeit with a slightly different sound. After starting out with a Hofner and a Gibson SG I ended up with the MiM Fender Mustang pictured. The PJ setup is versatile and the action is superb.

I use a compressor and have carried a SansAmp Programmable Bass DI around which is rarely used.

What kind of pedals do people run with their Rumble 500s for live shows?

Gosh, where to start??? If your using Windows, reboot. Try checking to ensure your Audio Device is set for ASIO. Check the cable from your bass to your interface. Check all settings and knobs on the interface. Reload Reaper or, wait for someone else with more experience to help...

Thanks!

I do use Linux.
So far I have tried Jack and ALSA and I can get both of them to play nice and record... but none of them let me monitor. I have been pressing buttons, looking online and I cannot find any help anywhere. I CAN record, I just don't hear anything coming back with monitoring, even if it's switched on. No idea why.

I forgot about Linux and don't know Jack (pun) or ALSA. In Reaper, check Options>Preferences>Devices>Audio. Here's a screen shot of mine:

Other than that, if you can't find a solution on this thread, you could try the Recording thread.

Yeah mine looks, well, basically the same and yeah still nothing. I'm still trying to figure it all out though, all hope is not lost! I might make a thread there :)

Nevermind.
It was so simple.
I just had to boost the playback of reaper.... wow. Wow. WOW. I didn't waste 5 hours looking online for solutions, I promise...

I'll... I will just see myself out.

Too funny...the simplest problems are sometimes the most difficult to solve ;).

Can you drag a music file into Reaper and hear it playing back?
That would rule out if it is a Reaper (device) setup issue or a monitor issue.
