Also, I watch a youtube of a guy playing the bass line for Zoe’s Besame Mucho I am trying to get down. Him in his room with gear, Zoe recording in background....same one I listen to and he is just playing along so you can see his hands and hear him stand out. No copyright issues for that one apparently.

Friend, you can install linux on a Windows machine easy peasy. I have an instance of CentOS 7.7 on my Win10. There are a couple of silly windoze hoops one must jump thru but it isn't all that bad.
True. Problem is when I dual boot I just go into Windows. Because inevitably I'll need to for something. Which isn't an issue most times but it is annoying those times where I'm leaving things open for later.

I'll make the switch one day, but not until I can do so permanently. I'm far too lazy for other solutions. lol

Aye, cap'n, sir. Welcome aboard.

So, you miss that Rumble sound, eh. I know the feeling as I haven't played either of mine at volume for over a year now. But I have faith that my time is coming. And so is yours!

Yes, cap, the R800HD should sound just as good as the Rumble you remember, only more so. They have the same preamp, where the tone comes from, just different power amps. There will be some difference due to the different speakers, but you can work that out, I'm sure. If your Bassman 410 is 8 ohms it ought to handle the 400 watts from the 800 just fine. But if it's a 4 ohm cab it'll pull up to 800 watts! Read on the back of the 410 for impedance and power rating, to be sure.

There are a couple new features to the 800 that you may, or may not, care about. It has a Pre/Post switch for the XLR Line Out and that signal is no longer affected by the Master Volume. And it can handle a 2 ohm load all night long! So, you can plug in up to four 8 ohm cabs, if you want maximum Sound Pressure Level (SPL).

Whichever Rumble you get, come on back here and show us a pic to get a free membership. We'd love to read of your adventures with it. ;)

Thanks so much for this info.
My bassman 410neo says it’s 8ohms and also says 500w continuous and 1000w program.

I will only be using this one cab. So with that in mind, the rumble 800 HD should be fine to crank right up with this sole 410 right?

most of the gigs I play are fairly large venues using front of house so the new feature of the XLR out sounds like it could be a good one.

I think the main question for me was, do I buy a new 800HD or find a 500w V3 on eBay? If they sound the same then perhaps the 800HD is safer for not much more money. I just wondered if it was a case of you guys suggested the older models are better sounding etc.

my old 200w V3 rumble sounded amazing and I loved how gnarly it got. I did push it too much though, it was underpowered a lot of the time, even though it’s still a loud amp.

I got just audio. I guess I could but yeah.
YouTube miiiight still pull it down on you. Copyright is a mess there. Some of my old bass covers are still up but most of them were either taken down or had the audio stripped out. I've got videos using music in the background where the studio has simply taken away any funds I'd get from them.

So it's a crap shoot really pretty much anywhere. A lot of people doing covers now a days do so under license. I learned this while looking at a distributor for my music; some offer services so you can seemlessly produce covers and there'll automatically be profit sharing and what not.

Far as I can tell the days of us noobs being able to upload a decent cover video are done.

On another note that CPU of yours needs an upgrade. It's got half the power of my phone!:smug: And I'm not even a CPU snob, it's just important to have the power you need.

Sounds like you want the 800HD and your cab will handle it just fine. Rumble on down to the Rumble dealer and get yourself a Rumble fellow Rumbler. (I just wanted to use Rumble a lot in a sentence. Hope it doesn't cause a rumble among the crowd!):bassist:

Yeah I think 8gb is enough. It must be the crappy processor, it's a Intel© Pentium© Silver N5000 CPU @ 1.10GHz × 4.
I think it just wants to kill itself every time I play a backing track and record with monitoring on... :p
Playback of a backing track itself takes almost 40% of it. Now imagine throwing in recording and monitoring on. Yep. That sucks.
Could be a little bit of both. 8 Gb isn’t that much by today’s standards, and a healthy amount of RAM can offset some of the effects of a slow processor.

Righty rooney, cappy! You are "Go" for Rumbling goodness.

And, while we're on the subject, that 410 qualifies you for membership in the Fender Bassman Club, too.

Personally, I always want my carefully crafted tone going to FOH, but to each their own.

Ya know, cap, when you mentioned your old Rumble 200 V3 I just assumed it was the combo, which is why I mentioned the different speakers. Now it occurs to me that you probably had the R200 head as backup to your Bassman 100T. But, if the 140w @ 8 ohms R200h was underpowered I would think the 100w @ all ohms BM100T was even worse, huh?

Also, unless you really want the Pre/Post switch and 2 year manufacturer's warranty, a good used R500 head could save you some cash and still get you 350w @ 8 ohms from that Bassman 410.

Good luck, either way! :smug:
.

Yes exactly... the rumble was my backup to the baseman 100T... the 100T is gone now. No need for it.

I will ALWAYS want to send my tone post EQ to front of house. So actually the 800HD XLR out doesn’t really benefit me does it.

the 800hd does have Speakon connectors but not sure it’s a deal breaker not having them.

I’ll let you know which I go for.

Ah! Yes! The Speakon connectors are another difference between the R500 & R800HD I forgot to mention. As/if I understand it, Speakons are really only needed/recommended for higher wattage amps, but it depends who/what you read as to what wattages they are meant for. I think I most often read it was around the 500w+ level. You don't see them on the Super Bassman or 100T, just on the Bassman 500 & 800. But they're not on the Rumble 500 combo or head, just on the Rumble 800 HD & Stage 800. Although, some players like them at all levels just for the locking connection feature. Personally, I feel strongly both ways.
.

I wonder if any of you guys can help...
I owned a fender bassman 100T alongside a fender rumble 200 V3 as my smaller backup.

the rumble 200 blew me away in terms of tone, it always sounded perfect.

It was slightly underpowered for the gigs I do. I ended up selling the bass man 100T as it was big and heavy and not easy to store at home. Plus the rumble sounded great. That vintage button!!!

Anyway I sold the rumble for a change and went with the orange Terror 500, which is nice.

however, I miss that unique rumble tone.

so here are my choices... either but a rumble 800 HD brand new or find a second hand rumble 500v3.

does the 800HD sound exactly the same as the 500v3? Are there any pros to getting the newer 800hd? Or should I be looking for a used 500v3 ?

Also, the cab I use is a bassman 410neo... will this be ok to run as the sole cab with the 800hd or would the 800 be overpowered and risking damage?

Good luck finding a used 500v3. I looked and couldn't fine one. Ended up buying a used Stage 800C for a little less than the price of a new 500v3.

True, and Linux also isn't an inefficient mem hog like windoze is. I use Dell R440s running CentOS 8 for work, which are no slouches, and they are equipped with 8 GB out of the box. Never a memory issue that I recall.

Reaper is touted to run on the most basic systems. So is Linux so, why there would be a problem with her setup is beyond me. Of course, I am not an expert but, I have not had a problem running Reaper on a Celeron with 8 megs of memory and Win 10. I will leave this to the experts.

It's her 1.1ghz clock speed and wanting to do live monitoring. It just can't push the bits fast enough to provide a smooth experience.

Clock speed, my Dear Watson, clock speed. It always has and always will be king when it comes to PC performance.

:D:laugh::cool: As long as you can get your gigs done with an R40, an R100 or, for big rooms, an R200 then I don't think you have to worry about Speakon adaptors, Goner. In fact, I didn't even know there were adaptors, 'til I looked 'em up.

OK, I will bow to your knowledge. Maybe those old 32 ghz, Hypo-Threading Pentiums weren't all that bad. I have a few sitting around waiting for a home. You can tell that I don't know anything about this...
