Roll off the treble: about 9 o'clock for a -7dB cut. Play with the low mids. Go back and forth from full cut to full boost. Find the sweet spot for the tone you seek.I've been running my Rumble 500 (with 115 cab) EQ flat for a while now, with just a little extra gain - about 1pm.
Looking for a little extra Glen Hughes/John Wetton-eque grunt, without making it too distorted or too middy.
Any EQ suggestions, Rumble fans?
BTW, nearly 2 months in, and I love these more than ever. Done a good few gigs now, some recording, and they just get better.![]()

Yes the low mids are where all the real beef; growl and punch reside. Good high mids is where the snarl lives, but it's also the same neighborhood as where finger-on-string noise; pick click, and fret buzz live. Not to mention too much high mids are very nasal. Will try that - thanks!
Bass is a 2014 US Standard Precision.
Will pushing the low mids give it the growl? Is it the high mids that give it the more nasty, in a bad way, overpowering type-tone?
Forgive my lack of EQ knowledge....in 20 years of playing I've always tended to stay with the tried 'n' tested settings!
You are most welcome, Plankton of Evil. Thanks for the info and link Linnin - a mine of excellent information as always.
+1 on the term - nasal! That's what I was looking for....and looking to avoid!![]()
You are IN, brother! Welcome to the Fender Rumble Club, ux4484!OK Linnin, you can officially count me in.
Rumble 150 for $85 on CL. Works perfect, I'm loving the scoop, It's so nice to have a volume control that can be divorced from the gain.
As I said in my other thread, this is a share with my daughters keyboard, here's a little sample of that (some eq adjustments).
You are member #413

If you or a technician you know is smart enough to figure it out. That will, of course, void your 5 year warranty, but have at it. Of those that have used the XLR out have reported stellar results. Unless you are jacking your volume all over the place all the time, the XRL will work just fine as designed. As for a volume tweak here and there goes, you'll be just fine.OK I want a Rumble 100, but I want to mod the DI out post EQ, but PRE master volume. Is there a way to do that?
I need a schematic...
Are the insides the same as the old rumbles?
