I'm sure the 40 will be plenty for him, but if he wanted to have a little fun playing with various tones and effects (and had the additional money), he could go for a Studio 40.

That's what I did. Sold my 200c and 40c when I moved. Bought a Studio 40 when I got my basses back from the shipping company. That's all I need and have space for in my 55 m2 (550 sq. ft.) apartment. Also, the Studio 40 has the full I/O config like the bigger Rumble combos, for hooking into my audio interface and DAW or Gig Performer.

So Rumble #3 showed up today (the 2x8). I built my stack from 3 used purchases.
The 112 was the roughest of the bunch but now restored.
Hec, the whole stack cost me like $600 plus the individual shippings from 3 different sellers
but well worth it.
What a sound and looking forward to trying a set of Roundwounds next on the
Mustang - just for grins. The Mini P bass sounds huge through the rumble stack.

Been on the hunt for a new, louder combo. Naturally, I'm inclined to stick with the Rumble line as I've been very pleased with my R100c. However, being open to new things I began considering giving Ampeg a shot as Yamaha now has a hand in the company; there's also the Boss Katana 2x10, and those Orange things...

Then today while spending reflective time with my R100, I realized that a Fender amp with its EQ at noon is my happy place. Those rare times when I do reach for the EQ, it's usually to boost the High-Mid a tad to compensate for a darker bass (i.e. the Rick's neck pickup).

Results:
- Ampeg lacking a high-mid control, is out (its amps never sounded right in my hands anyway).
- Boss Katana... Being a plug-n-play guy, the Boss is option overload (heck-- my truck has a manual transmission, crank windows, and no AC... and I LOVE it!), so it's out. (BTW aren't Boss/Roland/Yamaha-- and Fender, related in one way or another?)
- Orange. Always seemed a bit too teen-beat for me.

So back at Fender, thinking the 200c-- until I come here and read about daisy-chaining R100s; now that idea is intriguing!

Looks like I'll be spending more time reading 'back-pages' in this thread LOL!

I daisy-chain a 100 and 200 when I need more power than just the 200.

I had the Ampeg and it sounded great but the fan was very distracting. The Rumble is so much quieter. Don't want to move anyone away from the Ampeg Portaflex line but just be cautioned about fan. It is a bit loud in comparison to other bass amps.

Had a gig tonight. One of the larger rooms we play, so used the 200c. Coulda covered it with my R100, but damn, the 200c sounded great.
EDIT: just about the time I decide "I'll see what kinda trade I can get for my 2015 200c toward a new R100", I play through the 200c and decide "Nope, nvm!"

I love my 200c with my Rumble 210 ext. cab! Played my beautiful Gretsch SS Through my Rumble. OMG was it ever beautiful!!

Since I've been running 2 100's exclusively (indoor and out) my 2 500c's would be collecting alot of dust if I didn't have covers on 'em...sigh I'm thinking of relegating them to only rehearsals.

Yes. The top 100 has a "send" (1/4" jack) to the bottom 100's "return" (1/4" jack) coupled with an instrument cable. The top (send) amp settings control the bottom amp. Both amps will need power. Plug, play and freak out!

Fender Rumble 200 Combo. 140 watts into the internal 15 inch speaker. 200 watts when you hook up an extension cabinet. Like the one in my profile picture with the Musicmaster Bass.

Yes it is like 2x12 with 100 watts through each. You get the coupling effect of having two identical speakers which is a great thing.

There are two ways to chain them. Take the effects send from one and plug it into the other's effects return. This is the most common method. I use a different way. I plug the effects send from my 100 and plug it into the regular input of the 200. It gives me complete control over both including the tone knobs.

I think it bypasses the volume and tone, but someone who does it that way will know better than I will.

Yes, gl, Send-to-Return gives the Sender amp total control of the Returner amp. No need to have access to the Returner controls 'cause none of 'em work! So, stack 'em up with the sender on the top.

BTW, gl, do you have any Rumble, or pulled the trigger on a Rumble order? If so, we'd love to give you a free membership.
