The Rumble 200 and 115 together is one of the best bass tones I've ever had. I do miss my 115.

Living in an apartment. Playing/practicing mostly with myself. Easy to pick aup and carry somewhere to play together with one or two other folks. Not intending to gig with the 40--just home use.

I'm sure the 40 will be plenty for him, but if he wanted to have a little fun playing with various tones and effects (and had the additional money), he could go for a Studio 40.

In an apartment building I'd recommend using headphones because bass frequencies carry through such buildings much further than people realize. So, with headphones, the 15 probably sounds as good as any other model.
But, if he thinks he'll be playing to a "less populated" building, the 40 is probably the best sounding small Rumble, and it even weighs less than the 25! And the 40 can be gigged with a "less loud" band!

This is quite true. If, as a guitarist, he's familiar with many pedal tones, then the Rumble Studio 40 may be his "cup o' tea"!!

I believe the cash diff might be a factor, however, I will advise as stated above by all you helpful fellers. Thank you for your quick responses, we can all sleep well tonight knowing Fender will make a little extra $$$ today.
This! Also, I use the Studio 40 for practice with drums and two guitars the only time it wasn't enough volume was because the guys got a bit too loud.
My 2 cents....I compared ALL the Rumbles at a Music Store and was surprised how decent the Rumble 25 sounded. Deep and clear! I picked one up used/like new for $65 and it's PERFECT at our northern Lakehouse for bedroom use. At home in Florida I own the Rumble 100 and 200 for gigging. I wouldn’t actually recommend headphones with the 15. If mine is anything to go by, there is a pronounced hiss. It’s probably due to the different preamp. I’d recommend moving up to the 25 at least.
Around $200 was his amp budget, so the R40V3 fit right in. You guys are the best! Thank you
PS. Frankly, $200 for a quality bass amp just floors me, as do my 500c's and 100's. Best bargains for gig-able stuff ever.

It works for jams, or if your main amp craps out at a gig, a light backup, ect.

Yup. I use mine for a coupla restaurant/lounge mostly dinner music gigs. I could use my B25, but it's heavier than my 100.
I have a Rumble 25, and it's great. It gets loud enough to play with others and be heard well, AND it has the aux in so you can plug in your music player and play along. In headphones, too, if you want.
