Fender Rumble Club

If not, you may want to check out a Hardwire CM-2 or Joyo Ultimate Drive. Both of those are in the ballpark and can be had for less than $50.

I'm pretty much in A strict non acquisition stage now, gotta work with what I have. I remember looking at those joyo pedals online a few years ago, looked like they had a copy for just about everything with largely favorable reviews, but low price influences that too. Is hardwire a similar type situation? At the time I was looking for guitar application, guess I settled on the metal muff, which was really killer with valve jr into Mesa 112. Too bad it is not quite enough volume for band use, though maybe with the transformer mods to eek it up to 10w it might start to cut it. I actually used the valve jr into swr Goliath II jr with bass a few times for low volume practice vs electric drums and small modeling guitar amp. THEY had to resort to artificiality, I just had the real thing scaled down, it was pretty killer, couldn't even hit saturation because it had to be "that" quiet. This was where the modeling amp, or even the rumble overdrive, would have come in handy, but it would have to be like a 40 or 25 when you have to be "that" quiet.

No, Hardwire is the upscale wing of Digitech. They are really nice pedals aimed for rough stage use with sturdier enclosures and footswitch, a "stomp lock" that covers the knobs to prevent them moving if you get crazy in a live situation, and a pre-velcro'd replacement bottom plate. The CM-2 is essentially their take on the tubescreamer, but with much more bottom end and a bass/treble EQ that make it bass-friendly. It has that mid-cutting overdrive that is more natural sounding than a lot of distortions. They are something like $100 new, but you can find them used for half that. One of the best deals around for a quality pedal.

I finally jumped into the Rumble arena. I have a Rumble 500 and love the sound and possibilities it offers. It's even a little lighter than my GK MB115 and packs 300 more watts. Please give me a number and add me to your list.

I was looking at the 500 combo at MF the other day and they were $499. I know they've been running at $549, and now that lower price is gone and they are back up.
This was just a few days ago.
Anyone else notice this?

Wow! I noticed it had gone down and figured that it was back down for good -- that the supply channels had been filled again. It was $500 at all the usual retailers and now is back to $550 at most. Amazon still shows it at $500. I would take the Amazon price to my local store (GC: they price match) because they have given me good service in the past.

Seriously, all you have to do is ask for a better price and you can get up to about 15% knocked off. You can even do it online. We Americans just don't know how to negotiate.

I saw that yesterday, and called Musician's Friend about meeting the old price....and they wouldn't do it! I told them I was a long time buyer from them, and also a member of the Talk Bass forum, but the salesman said he just didn't have the authorization to sell at the lower price. Very weird, as you said I've often called and gotten a 10% - 15% discount.
I'll order from Amazon!

Musician's Friend hosed me bad a couple of years ago so I never go to them. Call Sam Ash Direct, or do an online chat with them. I was interested in a Rumble 112 cab and they instantly gave me $50 off. MF definitely has the correct initials.

420, what an honor.

I wasn't too impressed with the gk mb tone versatility, rumble just blows it out of the water. Also if I recall all the gk mb combos don't allow extension cabs.

Are you going to get the new 112 or 210 to go with it? The sale of the gk could cover most of the cost.

My experience in getting a better deal involves just asking for a reasonable price reduction. I'm not a dick, but I am polite, frank, upfront and firm. Not afraid to (politely) walk away if I don't get the price I want. If they come close, as they have in the past, done deal.

Sam Ash is my go-to store. Very willing to deal. And I've built a relationship with my local guys that carries me far.

Interestingly, I've had 2 different local GC's give me different prices when I asked - one almost $50 lower than the other. And don't be afraid to simply call a local store, national or otherwise. GC's operate semi-independently, and depend on sales for their existence. Therefore, it's in their interest to keep you as a customer.

MF, I don't know what's up with them. I've had problems with them since they were independent in the 90's, before GC bought them.

Another twist: I used one online price to force a price-match at the chain's local store. They weren't happy, but they did it. Again, because they need to see their sales numbers up; they're in competition with their own company's web sales.

I have no compunction against working the price, because I think there's a good bit of price fixing going on. They're not being fair with me, so why should i return the favor? When one sees "discounted" prices that are the same everywhere, that's not coincidence. I'd like to see the SEC do something about it, but the frigging government is so heavy-handed, they'd probably put them all out of business first, which is against everyone's interest. Therefore, work the price yourself.

This thread is so off-topic! But anyway, to add to it... I have really enjoyed my dealings with Sweetwater. Always call them and ask for a deal, you will get one. Their customer service is so good, I initially thought they were a mom-and-pop shop! That impression lasted until I got their gigantic catalog in the mail. :)
Yes I too really like Sweetwater. If you look at their "Campus" it's very impressive. Plus their studio and nice big auditorium. Gear Fest is June 12 & 13
