Fender Rumble Club

If you plan to change the speaker, do read through this thread before settling on what you want to do. From the Fender Rumble Wiki: Fender Rumble V3 100 speaker up-grade ? A bit of a longer read, but worth it.

My preference would be the S2012 with the appropriate ports and cab lining. That should make these great amps even better!

I'll probably go with that speaker since a local speaker shop down the street from my work place has them

I recently bought and received a Rumble 115 v3 cab, so I guess I'm a part of the crew now. However, when I was searching for a new head, I really lucked out. Someone at GC mistakenly listed a used 500 combo as a used head unit and priced it accordingly. They reached out to admit the error and it looks like they're going to honor the original price, so I'll soon receive a combo to create my mini stack of doom for $373 after tax and shipping. Super excited!

Sweet deal, sweet stack. I've always liked a 2x10 + 1x15 setup.

The S2012 is a significant improvement over the stock speaker (IMO). Just be aware that the stock speaker has a slightly non-standard mounting hole spacing for a 12". When upgrading, some people have addressed this by drilling new holes in the baffle and some by modifying the speaker frame. The S2012 will also fit with the stock holes if the mounting bolts are angled slightly initially. Because of the t-nuts, the bolts can be tightened normally making for a great seal at the gasket. I believe details on each method are in the link MadJack provided.

Hi to everyone. I'm new on this group. This is mostly my setup. Just few more basses.

My lovely heavy used rumble 100 and my new setup with 115 rumble and bassman amp.

Yep I have a los 410 rumble in the back.

I am doing as much reading as I can. I have come across a great thread about replacing the stock speaker in my rumble 100 with a basslite or beta.

In that thread it mentions lining the box with sound dampener. So I have two questions. One is there any set amount of the box that should be lined? Seen it takes two 1/2" sheets. Two I can't afford the speaker upgrade right now so was thinking I would line the box with the stock speaker if there would be benefits.

Sorry for the newb questions.

Thank you

First of all thanks for all your help Rumblers! I've been only playing seriously since June and you guys have been a tremendous help. I notice that ZZ Top's Sharp-Dressed Man is a favorite of many. We play it so I want to emulate that distorted bass sound in the video. What would be the best settings for that. Never ever used overdrive before so be gentle.

Dusty used a Fuzz pedal to get that tone. Also I suspect the original recording is overdubbed. I don't think you can obtain it by EQ on even a tube amp. My band plays this song quite a bit, I have a woolier setting on my Sansamp which gets me part way there. I've actually asked this question directly to Sansamp and they said the same. Need to pick up a fuzz pedal one day but my pedal board is full.

Im in the same boat. right now my stock rumble 100 not is useable in all volume ranges. start to fart in full volume. A speaker upgrade not is bad on this little rugged bass cab. But what is the better speaker? BETA? Basslite? I heard someone using some thin rubber mat on the sides, others says is better without it.So idk what to do.

I can't tell you what's best, but I can tell you what I ended up doing after reading that thread and some of the caveats about using too much lining. When I upgraded to a Basslite, I decided to line the top and the three sides below the amp cutout, leaving the bottom and the upper half of the sides and back unlined. I'm very happy with the results - so happy that I've never actually experimented to see if it could be made better with less or more lining.

Put a little bit of batting in, try it, then add-or subtract-'til you get the sound you want. I put too much in originally; wound up with just the 2 sides(original speaker)>

Like that a lot. Is there a particular name on that type of lining? I will have to order anything I need for this project.
