Fender Rumble Club

Two R-115s caught out in the hot sun this weekend. Used my old blue head to drive them.

This past Friday received word a replacement R-200c is available and being shipped out. Should have it soon.

Cross posted from the LT25, Studio 40, Stage 800 sub-forum on Thursday 8/17/23. G-Dog suggested there might be Rumblers up here who have seen something like this:

Sad evening yesterday (Wednesday 8/16), as my 3-year-old Studio 40 didn’t power up after I’d moved it to a different part of the house after shutting it off.

LCD screen backlight lit up the screen dimly, but no boot sequence took place.

Since it’s out of warranty, opened it up and found this on the power supply board.

For now, probably going to find a Rumble v3 of x wattage while I search for a replacement PS board.

And… following up on the previous post:

Over the weekend, I traded a Player Jazz 5-string and some cash for a Rumble 500 combo.

The music store manager offered an extra $100 on the 5-string to convince me to get the Stage 800, but that took me over the planned cash budget, and I just didn’t want to jump back in the boat with a modeling amp!

Hi,
I have an Rumble Studio 40 for bass. I have problems with unwanted distorsion in clean mode, bypass all fx. I tryed new cable, other grounded rooms, guitars but it sounds poopie. Specially when the tones fade out, you hear distorsion poopy sound.
Have anyone had this problem or did i get a broken Rumble? It's warranty is not active.
Regards

Can't go wrong with the 500c. Plug it in, turn it up... and off you go!

Hello! I'm an intermediate bass player been practicing for about 3 years now and just joined a church band! I have a Fender Rumble 40 Studio that I use for practice and my church gig and love it. Would like to join the community and learn how I can expand on my Rumble 40 for use for larger gigs as well as learn more about the Fender Rumble line and how people are using them. Rumble On!

Aaaiiii-eeeeee!! The Rumble Tri-fecta!!! @elillywv, you are now member #1664 in the Fender Rumble Club. And @Chris5150, you are now member #1665 in the Fender Rumble Club. And @EZJ-Bass, you are now member #1666 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome, some to TalkBass in general, but all to The Club in particular! Please put those numbers in your TalkBass Signatures for safe keeping. Then make yourselves at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

Chris and EZJ (elillywv already knows), please kindly direct any discussions of bass modeling to The Club's Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 sub-thread specifically for that purpose, would you? That is in order to keep this main thread simpler for Rumblings of a more general nature of interest to the broader Rumble community. :)

Would you all please tell us a bit about yourselves, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journeys in particular. Whatever your situation you're bound to fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Playing bass since 1975… traded a ‘75 Musicmaster for a ‘76 P upon HS graduation in 1977, and that was my one and only until the 2019 purchase of a ‘17 J.

First quality amp was a ‘79 era Acoustic 450/406… which limps along still. Went to an Ampeg BA-210v2 five or six years ago, then wanted a little less for a living room amp, which lead me to the Studio 40. I am a big fan of the S40, and hope to fix the issue it has (noted earlier in these pages).

While a Rumble 500c is arguably a bit too much amp for our living room , it’s a great “next man up” from the S40.

Certainly can’t argue with the love and passion for this amp series expressed by Rumblers in more than 54,000 posts on over 2,700 pages. You all sold me! Thank you!

Ok, so my Rumble 100 speaker is distorting even at low volumes. I tested the combo with headphones so I know its not the amp itself. I'm guessing my speaker is blown but wondering if its worth replacing since I got it used. Thoughts?

If you're sure it's just the speaker, it seems like the perfect opportunity to upgrade...

You may want to test it with another speaker just to be sure it’s not the power amp.

If you plan to change the speaker, do read through this thread before settling on what you want to do. From the Fender Rumble Wiki: Fender Rumble V3 100 speaker up-grade ? A bit of a longer read, but worth it.

My preference would be the S2012 with the appropriate ports and cab lining. That should make these great amps even better!

Do you all have a ‘66 flip top’ preset on your list? My studio 40 firmware is up to date with 100 presets, no 66 flip tops. Where can I find it?

Or, in the Tone App, touch and hold the word "Amp" onscreen of a preset to bring up a list of available amp models to scroll through and select. There aren't any of the 100 stock presets that already use the '66 Flip-Top amp, so you have to make, or modify, one.

So, Wall Crawler, how's about telling us a bit about your current secret identity as a bass player, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You can trust us with your secrets, 'cause we have all kinds here. But we all love to ... ... ...

First of all thanks for all your help Rumblers! I've been only playing seriously since June and you guys have been a tremendous help. I notice that ZZ Top's Sharp-Dressed Man is a favorite of many. We play it so I want to emulate that distorted bass sound in the video. What would be the best settings for that. Never ever used overdrive before so be gentle.
