Fender Rumble Club

Well, my replacement R100 v3 from Fender has quit working. Flashing red LEDs, no sound (though thumps in time with flashes come from an amp slaved via send/return). So, I’ll contact Fender about a warranty repair or another warranty replacement.

Meanwhile, the R100 v3 I bought used several years ago keeps plugging away.

Well, after a lot of hemming and hawing I finally pulled the trigger on a Rumble 500. So many of y'all helped me with the recon, I really appreciate it. It addition to being obviously loud enough to keep up with a loud drummer, it also sounds great at home.

May I get a number?

Hola, Rique-o! @Enrique M, you are now member #1670 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

How's about telling us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Rumble On!
.

I am a former guitarist. Self-taught in the 80's and 90's. Never got past basic open chords and power chords. I switched to my more natural instrument, drums in the 00's, but I have always had a bass sitting in the corner to occasionally plunk on. I play with a home studio crew. Our bass players have moved away. I volunteered to convert to bass over the summer, started taking lessons, and got bit by the bug pretty bad. I have a Roland Bass Cube 30 that I love. But I wanted something with more power in case any opportunities came up and my path lead me to the Rumble 500 combo.

My brand spanking new (as of yesterday), fresh as a daisy, out of the box R-200c. I’d like to be an optimist. This one will have no problems for several years, right?View attachment 5170273

Bummer they'd died out on you, I bought a used Rumble 200, in 2019 and have used it almost daily and still no problems, knock on wood. I like the sound a lot.
Hope you get one that goes 5 years. Good luck !!

My first R200c sounded bad right out of the box with hum/unwanted noise and rather loud fan. So the one I returned recently was the #2. This new one is #3. At some point Fender will be losing money on keeping their customers happy via the warranty. But hopefully this one will chug along no problem for many years. Decades, maybe?

Ok so this is interesting, I just received a brand new rumble 500 combo. It makes a small amount of noise at all times once turn on. I assume it is from a fan, does not appear to be coming from the speakers. It is not any louder than my laptop fan, but it is on the entire time. It does not bother me, but is that normal or not for this amp?

My Rumble 200 does that, but it's the fan, not from the speakers

Yes, the fan is normal and on all the time. Some are bothered by it, but I only hear the one in my R200cV3 (new 2019 w/ no problems) occasionally when all else is quiet.
Play in a few LOUD bands over the years. You won't hear the fan at all.:help: I didn't even know my 2015 200cV3 had a fan 'til read about them in Rumble Club.

I've been mostly using my R100 for our gigs lately. It's more than enuff(our venues don't want LOUD). But our next gig pretty much requires I bring the 200c. :hyper::bassist: I sometimes forget how good that thing sounds.
Random thought: I'd bet 2 of them daisy chained would be awesome.:)

have you plugged the 200 into an ext cab? Adding another 15 inch speaker really makes the 200 much louder and more powerful. It sounds way better almost like a different amp. Daisy chaining would probably be nice too, but adding an ext. cab has been more than enough volume for my purposes. I imagine a 2x10 would be awesome also

I had an R112 extension cab(since sold). The 2 of them sounded bodacious. I've also hooked up the R100/R200c.
ROOOAR!

I've played a gig with a 100 on top of a 200, daisy chained twice. Before loading up, I also tried the two 100s, but the 100/200 stack sounded better in my living room. I kinda wish I had tried the 100/100 stack instead. Next time.

I had that same setup for a while and it's fantastic. It reminded me of Bob Marley's music a little. Two 15s were what we always used back when I was younger. At one point, I had a Kustom with four 15s!

I took the 100/200 stack to a gig once. Sounded great but overkill. The coupla times I played through another guy's 100/100 stack gave me real close approximation of my '63 piggyback Bassman but with more oomph.
