Fender Rumble Club

So, let’s talk about my Rumble 100. I love a lot of things about it.
It’s my 2nd Fender Amp. I have a G-DEC 30 for use with my Tele, Les Paul and PRS Paul’s guitar. It is reliable with great electronic settings.
The Rumble 100 is for use with my Squire PJ bass and my new Ibanez SR 1350 B dream active bass. In active mode, my Ibanez has 3 EQ knobs and a 3-position mid-range switch for the 2 Nordstrand Big Single Pups. The range of voicings I can achieve from this bass is mind blowing. Then the Rumble has 5 EQ knobs that allow me to shape the bass output, particularly in passive mode. I LO❤️E the light weight of this powerful amp.
Then there is the part that I haven’t wrapped my head around. That is when I can switch on overdrive, with Bright, Comfort, and Vintage buttons coupled with gain. The amp doesn’t come with instructions that describe how these features are used. Can I get a little help here?
BTW, I am a 72 year-old Alta Cocker Rocker who played guitar for almost 60 years and just switched to bass 7 months ago, and I am obsessed with the instrument. I am taking lessons every 2 weeks and I’m in a band working out a dozen songs, hoping to make it to an open mic night at a local bar. So I use the Rumble in my room, in my drummer’s basement, and my friend’s garage. I haven’t needed it for a bigger venue. I don’t know the limitations of this 100 watt amp. I know I can use the outline to attach it to a PA system and I guess to another amp. Can I pair it to a pre-amp to increase the power? This is new to me and I don’t understand all the capabilities. Again, a little help?
Shoot!(sp?) Only 72? I'm 78 and still a-gigging.

Hi, first post in this thread. Have searched but not seen exact answer. I got back into bass earlier this year after a (ahem) 30 year break... Got a nice jazz bass and bought the Rumble 200 having fond memories of my old 15 cab. But... I want more. I'm thinking the 210 ext cab which would stack nice. But begs question of whether I should have got the 500 combo to start with. Thoughts?

It depends on what you will be using it for. The 200 is a 1x15 speaker and the 500 is 2x10. For most gigs, the 200 would be great witha 2x10 cab. I really like the sound of a 1x15 and a 2x10 combination. The cab is the same dimension as the 200, so they would stack up nicely.
And if later, you think you need a 500, get one.
And as is often said here "Mo Rumble is Mo Betta"

I have used that combination quite a bit for gigs and it is a great combo (R200c+R210). As long as that is enuff horse power (prolly not too many venues that it ain't 'specially if you have FOH), they are great together.

Hi, Moti. @Bass Motifs, you are now member #1689 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome to TalkBass in general and to The Club in particular. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

As Gravy Davy points out, the 210 cab makes a nice looking, and sounding, stack with the 200, being the same box size. And I can vouch for the 210 having those deep, rich lows you expect from a 15" speaker. But, although the Rumble 115 cab is wider than the 200 combo, it has the exact same speaker and, therefore benefits from the Coupling Effect of identical speakers generating extra enhancements! Then, too, the 500 combo is quite the beast in its own right, being 350w to the 200 combo's 140w. The 210 or the 115 can work great with either.

So, how about telling us a bit about yourself, Moti, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Rumble On!

Thanks G-Dog for making me welcome! Well, I dabble in a few things (violin, bagpipes, piano). Got into bass to play "popular" music. You hear something as a kid and it sticks, you want to make that sound: Dad playing Freddie King records on Sunday morning, Jerry Jemmott right in front (Look on Yonder Wall) or leaving me in the car on an errand and Heard it Through the Grapevine comes on the radio, or Let The Sunsine etc. Bottom end is where it's happening. So my music taste still locked in the 70s a bit, and blues based - R&B, Soul, Funk, Led Zep (that's a genre right?). Great forums, I've learnt a lot here!!!

Cheers Gravedigger, that sounds like a plan. I wasn't sure how the two speaker sizes would go together. But you're right I could trade up to the 500c later if not happy. Pretty sure I'll be happy though :) Challenge is actually getting the 210 this part of the world (NZ). It's not usually in stock here.
Since I love spending other people's money, how about just buying a 500 to go with your 200 and feeding the FX Send from the 500 to the FX Return on the 200, using it as a powered speaker?

Oh, and welcome to the humble Rumble club!

Coincidence I've just been reading one of your posts LeMaartien on another thread :) I'm getting a Rumble 40 for the "office" and did wonder whether I could use that as the preamp and monitor with effects out to the combo and cab!!! Anyhoo, another combo bound to arrive soon...
R40 doesn't have effects out. Could convert the DI out.

Hmmm. But after 15 mins deep thought, perhaps just getting the 500 combo for the "office" would be better. Is cheaper than getting the 40 plus 210 cab.

Stacking them, if I use the FX out on the 500c to the 200c, would the 500 master volume control both, or only the gain?
Yep, everything is controlled by the master amp; volume, gain, tone controlls. The slave acts just like a powered speaker. I'm sometimes gigging with this setup, R500c + R200c giving me a 490W, 2*10 + 1*15 stack.

I rocked the R200 +R112 cab tonight at the Firkin Tavern with my band Lowfires!
It sounded great!!

@SharpCat is correct, the 40 combo doesn't have an FX Send/Receive, but the Studio 40 does! Check out my Studio 40 with my GR Bass AT 500 combo! You could drive your 200 with the modeling Studio 40 or use either alone.:bassist:

Question for you: Do you use the modeling? The other features of the Studio 40 are certainly nice, but I’m not sure I’d use the modeling once I dialed in a “Rumble” sound.
