You've had better luck than I have with small amps in band settings. I've also never played an acoustic gig. Just settings with loud drummers and guitar players that insist that their tubes have to be glowing. ... ...
Yeah, Dook, I have been very lucky in recent years to play with excellent musicians. But, before that, I was in your shoes, so to speak, with a very loud country cover band. That was, in fact, what drove me to the R500c, 'cause my Bassman 250 115 wasn't cutting it and I was tired of carrying my Bassman 150 112 to chain to it, even for practice & rehearsals.
... ... I thought my rumble 100 would be fine for jamming but I couldn't hear it over a drummer friend while maintaining tone. With the stage 800, I found myself constantly dialing my volume down just so the guitars would quit thinking it was a competition.
There is age-related maturity and there is musical maturity. They don't always have to go together, but that does often seem to happen.
