The correct overall eq is what sounds best to you! I’d definitely start flat on the Rumble but also try the fx in. The latter requires you to eq with the SA. If you use the R100 bass input, adjust whichever you prefer.ey guys! In a few weeks, I will have my first, small gig.
I have a Fender Rumble 100 v3, and I'm using a Samsamp VT Bass DI with it with the purpose of give the tone the Samsamp "color".
Thanks, guys!
- How should I EQ it? Should I put everything flat on the amp and EQ through the DI (mid-low-high)? Should I "mix" the EQ between the amp and the DI
- I know the tune is a matter of personal taste, but does a guide or suggested EQ for Rumble exist? I'm trying a lot of things with the Rumble but I'm not sure if the tone is optimal.
- A few people told me to set the Rumble "flat" and EQ the Samsamp instead. In this website I understood that, to set the Rumble flat It should look like this . Am I right or did I get something wrong?
If you plug the output of the SansAmp into the Rumble 100's FX Return, then you have completely bypassed the Rumble's preamp EQ including the Overdrive, voicing buttons and even the Master volume control. None of the Rumble's controls will have any effect on the sound, except the on/off switch. It becomes a powered speaker, sending all it's 100 watts to amplify whatever the SansAmp gives it. The speaker & cab may give some "coloration", but that's it. I recommend you start with the SansAmp turned all the way down and work your way up from there.
.
This! I love my VT Bass DI, but you know what? I never actually use it because I'm always playing through my rumble lately, and my basses sound great straight into the rumble.
A use case could be to have a box at hand to change volume and EQ without walking over to the amp, and I've considered it for that - but still haven't actually used it with my rumble in practice (and a sansamp isn't necessarily the best tool for that purpose since it's sold on how it changes your tone, and the speaker sim).
Hey, charliethomas! This is an interesting point of view. I bought the Rumble this week, and I will play with it for the first time. I'd love it if you could share some EQs or settings that you use. Maybe I can get rid of the VT BASS DI and play only through the AMP.
This guy is being backlined at an upcoming gig. Should do the job.
The less schlep the better. View attachment 5408838
I’ll use anything if I don’t have to carry it! Nice stage though.Woo hoo, Ink! The first really serious pro level solid state Rumble!! I remember taking notice when those came out. 350 watts continuous! Made my big, honkin' Bassman 250 combo seem inadequate!
Not as little a schlep as a Rumble 500 combo would be, but not bad for it's time.Rumble On!

Can’t speak to their use for gigs - but we had one of those folding magnesium carts like that at work and it was great. It weighed next to nothing and folded small enough that we stored it in a large file cabinet drawer. That's what hand trucks and carts are for. I use a small, folding hand truck to carry my pedalboard case and two R100s in one trip: Magna Cart Folding Steel Hand Truck | Guitar Center .
They work OK - but IME the platform on generic carts is often too wide and too shallow to transport a large combo comfortably. I use a Rock’n Roller hand truck to cart my Rumble 500 around. The platform is deep enough to support the amp comfortably. If I need to bring both my amp and an extra cab, I use my adjustable four-wheel Gravity cart, which holds a huge amount of gear, but folds down fairly small. Can’t speak to their use for gigs - but we had one of those folding magnesium carts like that at work and it was great. I use one of these. [Stuff] can't fall out. This is how I carry my amplifier, including shock absorption during transport and some acoustic dampening during use:

The drummer looks to be out-of-uniform - not wearing a jacket (maybe too warm, or he’s just not ready yet)..And the name of the ensemble was "The Rumbling Bowties"?
