OK, whatever G...

Thanks to everyone's input on the weight differences in the magnetic materials used in each driver.
I've been gigging with Neo driver loaded cabinets pretty much since they became reality, I just hadn't taken the time to learn the whys and wherefores and weight differences.
Thanks again to those who were helpful in my learning some things.

I look up the definition of ceramic and get "clay, hardened by heat" (crematic..? ;)). Ferrite would suggest an iron-based material. So I'm a little fuzzy on this whole ceramic magnet...thing.

I found a description as, "Ceramics are generally made by taking mixtures of clay, earthen elements, powders, and water and shaping them into desired forms. Once the ceramic has been shaped, it is fired to a high temperature" [emphasis added]

From DuraMag.Com: "Ceramic or Ferrite Magnets are produced by calcining [roasting] a mixture of iron oxide and strontium carbonate to form a metallic oxide. A multiple stage milling operation reduces the calcined [roasted] material to a small particle size. The powder is then compacted in a die [formed] by one of two methods. In the first method, the powder is compacted dry which develops an isotropic magnet with weaker magnetic properties, but with better dimensional tolerances. Often, a dry pressed magnet does not require finish grinding. In the second method, the powder is mixed with water to form slurry. The slurry is compacted in a die [formed] in the presence of a magnetic field. The applied field creates an anisotropic magnet which exhibits superior magnetic properties, but usually requires finish grinding." [emphasis added]​

In making ceramic magnets, perhaps the compacting process itself produces enough heat to "set" the form without heating afterward?

NAD! So I already have the 500 combo and the 210 extension cab. I just got a good deal on a 500 head which fits nicely on the extension cab. So now for gigs I can bring the 500c, the 500c with extension cab, or bring just the head and use the provided cab if available. Win win. I'm interested in installing a 1/4 inch jack on the back of the 500c for cab only use. I'm having trouble finding those mods on the Wiki pages. All the different combinations I could use is awesome!

Hey, my other brother Darrell! You know, you can connect the 500 combo to the 500 head & cab via Send to Return and get an awesome 700 watt 4x10" stack!

And you can find the links you're looking for in the Rumble Modifications section of your Rumble Club Wiki page. The keyword is "Separating" the combo's amp and speaker(s). Caution: the crossover pcb makes doing this a bit tricky. Be sure to square that away safely.

Thanks G. Of course, the daisy chaining is the answer! 700 watts, 4x10s, built in backup, and no modding! Maybe get 2 more 210 cabs for 810s and 1000 watts, hmmmmm
 
Had my Rumble 100 for over a year, and I've had my upright bass player use it, but I've mostly been playing Pedal Steel. However, tonight was the first gig for me playing bass through the Rumble.

Country gig at the American Legion. No drummer, but I was playing with 2 vox, acoustic, electric and steel player.

I'm very impressed. Sounds great, insanely light to carry and I didn't feel like I was working the amp hard at all. I still think there's something magical about the tone of my Ampeg B100R which has served me well for probably 1-2 hundred gigs but this thing has all the volume and 95% of the tone at about 1/3 of the weight.

I think I've found my new gig amp.

Perfect location for a bass player. With Southwest 737s coming and going every 30 seconds, ain't NOBODY gonna complain 'bout da bass. :bassist::cool:

When I lived in Chicago, I had a place in LPT (Lake Point Tower). Different story completely. The only way to rock out there was on a rocking chair. :roflmao:

Hi everyone! Does anyone have any hints or warnings about pulling the power amp section of a Rumble 800 210 combo? Mine as developed a rattle. Tightened all the screws and it hasn’t helped. I’m thinking of pulling the amp and adding rubber washers to dampen the cab vibrations and get the power amp chassis to stop buzzing.

Otherwise this thing keeps chugging away! Fantastic amp!

Glad you're still loving your Rumble! Exactly when does it rattle? When moving it? When playing it? Both? But, ... ...

A. I am not an amp tech myself, by any stretch of the imagination. And, ... ...​

2. I am not familiar with your technical background and expertise, at all (no offense intended). Further, ... ...​

π. "Adding things" to consumer electronics, even 'just' rubber washers, while seemingly harmless and logical, raises a red flag with me. Because it might, I dunno, insulate or compress 'something' not intended to be insulated or compressed and actually cause a worse problem (especially if I tried it)!

§. Since TalkBass has such a wide range of user resources, I would feel much better getting advice about your "rattling amp" in a combo from a very reliable technical source, such as @agedhorse.​
