Fender Rumble Club

Take a good close look and audition a V3 Rumble 40 combo. It has excellent built in overdrive and compression. So for the price of a couple of pedals you can get a damn fine bass amp.
I'll do that. I have to take my oldest daughter (20yo) to an appointment later today. It happens to be up the street from the local Sam Ash. When I drop her off, I'll take some "me time".

Is it just over here in Europe or are prices of the Rumbles going up everywhere?
The Rumble 500 was € 569 and went up to € 609, the 100 from € 275 to € 299, etc.

My Rumble 500 combo was a Christmas gift from my wife at $499.99 from MusiciansFriend. (Okay I paid the bill but you know...). The same combo amp jumped up $50.00 January 1 this year and have stayed at that price point.

Demand for Fender Rumbles is so strong, and that gives Fender pricing power. They raised the price of the 500 combo from $500 US to $550. And they brought out the Rumble 210 at $350 instead of $300. If you can afford to purchase now, I wouldn't wait.
Yeah, that's the marketing mechanism. Although a lot of products got expensive over here.
Just an example: Behringer X32 producer, € 1299 half a year ago, € 1888 now. That a 45% increase!

If you can afford to purchase now, I wouldn't wait.
Afford it: yes. Need it in the near future: no.
Hmmm...what to do.

i bought a little v3 40 when they were pre-order for 179.99. then they went right up to 199.99. so about 10% up all around for the rumbles? they're still an amazing value $monney/sound quality/watts ratio at the new prices. whichever price, whichever V3 Rumble... they're all good :bassist::cool:

Alright, I'm back from Sam Ash. I got to try the Rumble 40 with a MIM 70s Jazz. I REALLY liked this combo (amp and bass). I'm sold on the amp and I'll get it as soon as I get the green light from the wife. I made the mistake of telling her that I was happy with the 15, now she says I don't need a new amp. In time, I get the amp, but my Audere preamp is gonna come first. I can't stress enough how much I LOVED that MIM 70's Jazz Bass. I'm gonna have to research what pickups are on it and put those on my "consideration" list.

Our drummer -- who is a big time equipment guru --claimed the other night that for bass amps, solid state has recently been discovered to be the better choice. Not sure why, but I'll ask him tonight at rehearsal.....while I make sweet love to my Rumble 500 Combo w/ my Fender Jazz. *cue Barry White's "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe"*

Also, This my sound odd (I know it does to me), but the Rumble 40 (at 40w with 10" speaker) sounds louder and fuller than my old BXR60 (with 60w and 12" speaker). It's incredible how amps have improved in just 20 years.
Fender's Principal Engineer, Dave Lewis, knows what he is doing and has an excellent design team. He's been designing Rumbles since the very beginning in 2003.

Uh... Are you sure it was 2003? Reason I ask is I looked at a used Rumble I believe it was a 100 or 150 something like that, back in 2003. The rattle trap that gave me a bad taste for Rumbles before I tried out the V3. I guess the original owner might have bought it from GC, did something bad to it and caused the rattle, then returned it only to have GC put it back on the floor for sale... Sounds about like them... I ended up with a Crate until my back made me go with the V3 Rumble... Glad it did though...

Kind of anxious to get my covers already. I got my questions answered, and my order in yesterday... I am scheduled to take my amp with me to a jam Saturday afternoon... My lovely bride justifiably wants me to take good care of the amp and protect it, including during transit!

Yes, the move away from tubes really started with SWR's RedHead 2x10 combo, dubbed the 'The Giant Killer'. What giant did it kill, you ask? Why the ampeg SVT of course. Notice the irony that SWR is out of production and 'on the shelf' while ampeg's very expensive all tube SVT is alive and well. Also Gallien-Kruger's RB 400 & 800 heads were very much in favor. GK continues to do well and is #2 behind Fender. Then came Trace Elliot and David Eden. Today's D-Class amps rule the bass amp roost as far as sales go. Tube amps will always have their place, and there will always be tube snobs. Right now Fender Rumbles are the very best selling bass amps on planet Earth, and have been since 2011. :D Rumbles Rule! :roflmao:

So oldest that amp could have been, considering I was looking in September / October 2003 was... what 3 months or so? The original purchaser must have done something really bad to it, or there was a manufacturing flub... EIther way, I am hugely grateful I had the opportunity to play a modern Rumble, my dissilusionment with the one I had played before is so long gone it's not even funny...

Part of the problem here is the dollar-euro exchange made products outside of Europe a lot more expensive last months. Not sure about the AUD vs USD rate.

Maybe time to get that 500 Combo with 210 cabinet before it gets even more expensive...

My Combo 500 cost me $950 AUS. The 210 cabinet I think he said was around $550-600ish. I am going to reflect after a rehearsal this week whether I need to jump in on a cabinet (I am hoping not at present, just to keep options open to look at a bass upgrade perhaps first). Having said that, at least at home, even my Affinity J sounds pretty good through it.

My first experience with a Rumble was an ugly metal grilled 15 watter. There is nothing inherently wrong with it. It's a useful doorstop, for instance, and it could take the full weight of a couple of drunk Navy sailors standing on it. It sounded fine, too. It was just hard to get that excited about something that was so obviously made for the "never gonna show this in public" crowd.

Then the V3s came out and I was in love.

I've been trying to decide which amp would fit my particular needs. It turns out, I already owned that particular amp and didn't need to buy a new one.View attachment 636542

I've got that one.

Thanks for the heads up, I have ordered the rumble 40, it should arrive next week hopefully.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.

I like the metal grille and big Fender badge. Oh well, we are all different.
But having said that the V3 grille wouldn't stop me buying, I like it fine as well. :)
